@mcrs987 Unsure if the lower angle of attack for flight 12 is an operational change or if they needed a higher lift to drag to make it to the landing site due to losing an RVac?

@RyanHansenSpace Yeah that first recovery attempt seems like it’s probably going to be right around the corner. Wouldn’t be surprised if they went for it on F13, if not then, the following one for sure.

@RLMBD1001 @fiagirly I think this was the one time where it wasn't true, the mclaren definitely had an advantage over the ferrari. And lewis did lose momentum when piastri overtook him and its not like leclerc is gonna slow down for him

@fiagirly Of course Charles just sits behind until its time to attack his teammate, any wonder why ferrari haven’t won a title in decades.

@StarwatchRv3 yup they did validate the grid fins and that it can stabilise it from an off nominal attitude/spin. Pretty impressive honestly, and the hot staging ring did not come off like in flight 3 despite the insane entry speeds and dynamic pressure

The booster team is probably a little bummed about B19 not working exactly according to plan, but not only did it test the reentry capabilities, but it also tested the new Grid Fins!

Ooook. Starship flight 12. It was a decent flight for being the first flight of a new generation of vehicle! However, there has been a lot of opinions about the booster mainly, and I want to cover that. Because i don't agree with a lot of them. So I'll give you mine!

@Jonharson @DJSnM SpaceX lost 2 inner engines in the 13 ring during flight 7 or 8 and still had a nominal boostback burn and landing

I slowed down and resynched the engine diagram during the booster engine restart, that's a pretty hard failure that damaged neighbours.

@punyeet @StarwatchRv3 @megagoose11 It launched with 33. They should just wait until it’s done the flip maneuver before igniting the outside engines. It’s probably having a hard time supplying enough fuel during the bank because fuel at the top of the downcomer is experiencing a low G environment

@StarwatchRv3 @megagoose11 ye they probably will be changing the startup sequence😂😂, or maybe 33 engines puts it over its structural limits

@DJSnM seems like they are gaining a bit of altitude, perhaps to decrease drag overall?

Ship finally heading into reentry regime, let's see how close it's able to target the landing site given the changed orbit from engine failure.

So, I guess without the boostback the booster must have continued down range and entered at higher speeds. I'm wondering if this contributed to landing burn failure, or if this was just doomed after the failed boostback?

I’ve wondered if Starship could survive an rvac out, glad to see it could, especially that early in S2 burn.
