@terrinakamura Not so much anymore. I've been collecting for years but have also been an anti dealer for decades. My grandmother owned an antique store years ago. She taught me a lot. Now I say I Sell Old Stuff in my profile. Antique Dealer just sounds too snooty for me.

@terrinakamura Puget Sound. Guemes Island. I haven't been back since 1992 or so. I dug clams. Went kayaking. Gardened. And that was my mother as a little girl. Her life turned out so different than this beautiful picture. Beautiful island.

@raebops It's a wonderful image. I don't think I have childhood photos of either of my grandparents. What a treasure! Where in the San Juans?

I have often wondered what my seven year old mother was thinking about here, in her seagrass rocking chair overlooking the sound in the San Juans.

@pitsenberger @raebops I got a write up in Herb Caen's column for saving the Mill Valley Coffee Shop during a flood. Nailed boards over the vents but couldn't find sandbags, so I used plastic sacks of cow manure. Herb thought that was absolutely hilarious.

Fred Lyon: I'd call New York and try to sell them a story on San Francisco and there'd be young picture editors asking, “Well... what do you got out there?” “Oh, we've got cable cars and steep hills and fog and Chinatown and Herb Caen.” And they'd say okay I guess you can do....
