@GailSimone I was given Richie Rich and other Golden Key comics. Then I discovered superheroes were more interesting.

A question. I used to ask people what led them to try their first comic. They’re not always easy to find. Over and over (years ago) people would almost always say the Batman or X-Men animated shows. Why did those bring in new readers, but blockbuster movies did not?

@AQuartermain @Owen_Stephens I always saw X-Men as being hated for something they couldn't help or change. That was me. Still is me, in some ways.

@Owen_Stephens A similar thing, I think, with D&D. Some who had that as a refuge from harassment want to keep it for those like them. Some want it open to others.

There are people who read X-Men and, seeing mutants were allegories for persecuted minorities, told themselves the minority in question was "smart geeky young white men who aren't getting the power, prestige, and women they deserve." Those people freak out at the real allegory.

No context, no explanation, post a favorite villain.

My radiation oncologist has a tentative start for the unholy fire treatments & chemo oncologist has a tentative plan for my poison dosage. The latter is annoyed the former hasn't called to coordinate, but will make it happen. Six-to-seven weeks of major suckage starting by March.

some people think that when you get diagnosed with a disability or illness there’s just a doctor waiting there like “ah yes, the disability, let me help” like ER shows when in reality you go to 6 doctors that are all like “idk about this you should find someone who does”

The only problem with this is that 6/8 of the politicians in Washington would be skipping the country. 1/8 wouldn't be aware they'd done anything wrong. And...the rest might actually be good politicians...or just hadn't taken advantage of the corruption yet.

That said, I need to step back and ponder the current reality very, very carefully. So, I'm taking the next few days off from any OGL-related news, links, or posts. I'll wake up Tuesday, and see what I think I need to do for my career, industry... and friends. ALL my friends. 3/3

The ttRPG industry is small. One thing that means is that dozens of people asked me to be one shows, consult on the future, or lead on the OGL issue. I have done my best. But ANOTHER thing it means is I have hurt friends and family-of-choice in the process. 1/3

@4BrandonJS4 I like to watch AMVs. Anime (or animated) Music Videos. At times a vid makes me go "WTF is that"? And I will look up a show and enjoy it (or not). Fan art is like an AMV. It exposes you to new stuff via crossovers with stuff you like. Ermaween, for example, is fan art.

I guess this counts, right?
