It's one of the most famous works in Western literature, largely credited as being the first modern novel and was an immediate sensation upon its publication. Complete with the 3 chapter "Captive's Tale" section about the Muslim enslavement of Christians. This was all common knowledge as well as a constant threat, part of our culture and art for centuries.
