@RustylootGG shouldnt be able to equip shield with heavy armor, horses should be way slower with roadsign armor and maybe a few smaller tweaks, i dont mind being on a horse giving better protection if it also wasnt crazy easy to kill people on it while being hard to hit

After 3 days of focusing on Deep Sea, here’s my thoughts! I’ll start with the cons.
- It took some trial and error to figure out what the meta was to secure some loot in the deep sea on a high pop server. Turned out the best method was to just use a RHIB 💀. The boat building is fun, but very expensive. Especially on fuel. If you want to compete you kind of need all 5 engines. You’re talking like 2-4k low-grade to build and use a boat for an expedition (not including 10s of thousands of wood). Even then you may be too slow to outpace a rival boat designed to chase you down and cannon you. So literally using what has already been in the game, a RHIB, is fastest and easiest to secure the INSANE loot out in the deep sea. 💡Solution: force us to use a built boat to get into the deep sea? I’m quoting @realkira here but instead of spamming 10 sails and 5 engines having 1 upgradable of each would save space and make more sense.
- The uptime for deep sea is 3 hours but feels like a ghost town after 1. All the loot is usually swiped up within 30 minutes. 💡Solution: If the islands (nodes and crude) and maybe some RHIB patrols respawned throughout this time, we’d see a lot more consistent action throughout the entire timer. PvP out here is sooo fun. Maximizing it by giving players reason to stay in the deep sea is crucial.
- A lot of bugs need to be ironed out on the player built boats. Phasing out of them randomly, straight up dying while standing in them, getting stuck to other boats permanently, etc. Not to mention bugs with Deep Sea itself such as massive voids that don’t load unless you relog or scientists glitching into rocks and shooting through them on the islands.
- Most importantly, deep sea is the new meta to snowball. If you don’t go deep sea, you’re going to get left behind on high tier guns, comps, and even ore in some cases. If it’s open as soon as wipe happens it will get rushed by people with nail guns. It’s a better version of oilrig but without needing keycards. 💡Solution: I recommend it doesn’t open until a couple hours into wipe and like stated above, player boats only.
Onto what I enjoyed about it.
- I had a very unique and fun wipe. Yes it’s likely due to everything being new and exciting but some of the things that went down are literally once in a lifetime.
- Deep Sea itself is very stunning. Love the color of the water, the white sand islands, even the scientists look cool. Devs cooked with the atmosphere for sure.
- Getting cannoned by a ship feels awful but cannoning a ship and sinking it is really exhilarating lmao. My advice, don’t build something you’ll be attached to 😅
Overall Deep Sea feels like a modded game-mode. It is so different from normal Rust. It makes me think we’re going to be building space ships to go to the moon in a distant update from now 😂. At this point I’m putting my trust in the devs and letting them cook. It was fun, it needs tweaks, I’m sure it’ll be balanced great in the future. There’s some things I hate to this day (attack helis) but things I used to fear being added like ELECTRICITY like 6 years ago quickly grew on me and is a staple in the game now. Looking forward to what’s next for Deep Sea.

We've begun the slow roll out of server side player occlusion culling on Facepunch servers.
Mentioned in dev blogs, this anticheat feature hides the player from the network data if the player cannot be seen. There are some limitations in that this is only applied to terrain currently.
We've tested and are currently running this feature on servers with holding 350 population simultaneously.
This greatly limits the use of cheat features such as ESP and other radar like features.
