I was told my whole life, "Never turn you back on the ocean," because my grandmother had a beach house on the Pacific. Now, I bob around in the water in the Atlantic every year without a care in the world.
Lost Nomad@lost_nomad__

Sad to say, but unless you surf, California beaches are basically worthless compared to Florida or the Carolinas Odd because they are so glamorized. My only attempt at an explanation is that CA is just where Hollywood is so they promoted their own beaches over elsewhere

@SeanCunningham I'm going to disagree. I think the sellout number is 13k. Otherwise, the 11,390 game would have been a sellout if the sold tickets number was 12k. Given no shows, it's likely that game had more than 12k sold and didn't count as a sellout.

While many point out that capacity at Sutter Health Park is listed as 14,014 - A’s games sellable tickets are lower than that number. I’m told, as you point out, figures fluctuate with grass/standing room tickets sold. But “sellouts” are determined around the 12,000 mark.

Ok I have a dumb question Sean, whom I love with all my heart. How is it the 9th sellout of the year, but this is the biggest crowd of the season? What is the EXACT number we are using for sellouts, because I’m assuming the deviation is SRO? If anyone knows tell me

@CarmichaelDave I'm not 100% sure what the number is, but this is the 9th game with more than 12,000 people in attendance. In concerts, the no show number is about 8%. If it's the same here, then looks like 13k is the sellout number.

Today's attendance of 12,541 at Sutter Health Park not only the 9th sellout of the season, but the largest crowd for an A's game since arriving in West Sacramento. It eclipses the 12,489 mark set on Saturday.

I'm going to dip my toes into the Sacramento A's attendance issue. Last night 11,100 people showed up. There are 10,600 seats in the stadium. Live events generally have an 8-12% no show rate. That means somewhere between 1800-2000 fans showed up without a seat.

@robertalvis @heykevinjohn My beef is with shit owners like John Fisher for the dismantling of a once proud franchise. My beef is with shit owners like Vivek Ranadivé who aided Fisher by giving a rent free option. That lose gas also crippled the Kings.

@OT2pointO @heykevinjohn I agree, but my beef is that adding a place to stand with a view of 25% of the field into the capacity is dirty work.

@robertalvis @heykevinjohn Original cap: 14,611 (00') Redux to 14,414 (05' party deck add) redux w/prem seating adds. As of May 25' cap: 14,014 Confusion comes from several articles ref only # of fixed seats (10.5k–10,624), while the full stadium cap includes: berm/standing room/lawn areas/suites/clubs.

@heykevinjohn @OT2pointO That 14k number needs to get retired. 14k would have a lot of fans standing on the concourse with basically zero view of the field. The stadium has 10,600 seats plus a lawn area that fits another two or so.

@OT2pointO Yeah I hear you. But it's still more fans than what the A's averaged at the Coliseum before leaving Oakland.

@NBA__Courtside Winning one championship in a place like Milwaukee is worth 3 or 4 for the Lakers, a team players try to navigate themselves to. Just look at the video of LeBron talking about Memphis. Some places are more desirable and therefore the bar is set higher.

Nick Wright on the debate if LeBron James tenure in LA was a success: “LeBron the record is 8 years with the Lakers, 7 trips to the playoffs. 2 seasons where they made a conference finals and 1 championship. And you’re going to have folks today earnestly genuinely try to argue that LeBron Lakers tenure was a failure. To which I would simply say or ask and don’t even add I’m not even asking you to add any age related qualifiers to it. Has Giannis 13 year Bucks career been a failure? Because in those 13 years, Giannis has 1 trip to the finals, 1 championship, and 1 trip to another conference finals and that’s the exact same thing as Bron in his 8 with the Lakers.” (Via @WhatsWrightShow)

@CoastalRips @ByJasonB He'll unfortunately be the person who loses ABs for Bolte. Cortes is in against righties. For better or worse so is Butler and Soderstrom. If Bolte becomes the first right handed bat off the bench, Thomas gets buried. I would like to see Butler sit, but they don't ask me. Lol

@ByJasonB Colby T. batting .318 and he’s only been given 22 AB since 4/25. I’d love for him to get a chance to truly settle-in at the MLB level. If the A’s don’t plan to do it hopefully he can land on a team where he’s given the opportunity to be an impact and contribute consistently

@AlDefinitely Voters decided in every state either directly, or voting for representatives. Either way, there was a vote.

Definitely Not Al Gore 🇺🇲🇺🇦🇵🇸
Democrats redrew two states, only after letting the voters decide. Republicans have redrawn, so far, six states, without a single vote from the public. Spare me your bullshit outrage, congressman.
Steve Scalise@SteveScalise

Just so we’re clear: Democrats want to rewrite the Virginia Constitution because the State Supreme Court rejected their unconstitutional maps. For a party that loves to chant “No Kings,” this is VERY undemocratic. nytimes.com/2026/05/10/us/…

@WaterChicken2 @ByJasonB Gelof has an OPS of 1.086 in May. Cortes has an OPS of .978 this season. Thomas has an OPS of .830 this season. Luckily, Gelof can get some run on the infield, but I don't think Bolte is a guaranteed upgrade in RF from the Cortes/Thomas platoon. Butler on the other hand ...

Massive information revealed about MLB and Sacramento. They have the money, they now have the land and they have the tax money. Majority of the site will be at Sutter Health Park. There is a tax code or something that they will be able to use to help pay for this. The goal is to make a sports entity from the rail yards, to Doco, and the new MLB stadium if built. More details in the interview.
