We do not merely perform benevolent deeds; rather, our state of being is changed and becomes increasingly Christlike. Charity, then, ultimately possesses us. The scriptural phrase “endure to the end” is a repeated reminder of the mighty spiritual change in our hearts that should be ongoing throughout our lives; it also is His promise of what we may become if we truly are possessed of the pure love of Christ. #GeneralConference

While on my mission, my companion and I went to the genealogy center at the church to learn how to use the genealogy computers. As I browsed around I saw my great-grandmother was an Oaks. I explored more and found that President Oaks was my 3rd cousin. So when I got engaged, I decided I would send a letter to Elder Oaks and ask if he would be our sealer. I knew it was a long shot, but I did it anyway. I told him we were 3rd cousins once removed and sent the genealogy that I printed on my mission. One evening, we got a phone call. My roommate answered and handed me the phone. On the other end, I heard, "Hello Dustin, this is Dallin H. Oaks". 😳 He said many people have told him they were related, but I was the first to prove it. 😂 He explained that they have been asked only to seal immediate family members and don't want to take away the privilege from the sealers who have been called. He then just chatted with me for a while and congratulated me on getting married and asked what my plans were for the future. I was amazed he would call me. I figured I would get a response from his secretary explaining that he is too busy. I had no idea I would get a phone call. I have had more interactions with President Oaks than any other apostle. I won't get into each of them, but I've been hoping he will be our president one day.
