📈 Paramotor and gyrocopter attacks spiked ahead of Myanmar’s sham elections. There were at least 304 paramotor and gyrocopter attacks on civilians between December 2024 and 11 January 2026. In 2025, data collected by @FortifyRights shows attacks increasing from July, ahead of the junta’s August 18 election announcement, and continuing to rise in the weeks leading up to the first phase of voting on 28 December, as the military junta sought to assert authority ahead of its multi-phase sham elections.

🚨 On May 12, a Myanmar junta jet bombed a school in O Htein Twin village, Tabayin Township, Sagaing Region, killing at least 22 children and two teachers, and injuring over 100 others. #Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair, should initiate emergency measures to impose aviation fuel embargo on the #Myanmar military junta. “ASEAN member states must abandon their current approach of looking away from the junta’s atrocities and instead take action to end these war crimes,” says @Sai_Rights, Human Rights Associate at @FortifyRights.
