Those terrorists who have taken up arms against the authorities are called the FLA, which stands for the Front for the Liberation of Azawad. They are manipulated by Algeria and France in order to divide Mali. The FLA is fighting to take control of more than half of Mali, nearly 70%, to create a terror country they call Azawad. Her name is Mariama Walet Acharatoumane, the first female Tuareg officer in the Malian army, the FAMa. Her big brother is Moussa Ag Acharatoumane, a very well-known rebel leader whose armed group faught the Malian army! She is a proud soldier of the Malian army. There are many Tuareg serving in the official Malian army. The governor of Kidal is a general in the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA), and he is Tuareg. Most importantly, the northern region of Mali, which the FLA claims as Tuareg territory, does not consist solely of Tuareg tribes. There are non-Tuareg communities in those areas as well. Now that the FLA has officially and publicly joined forces with the internationally recognized terrorist group, J-N-I-M, to launch operations against Mali and abducting young African children and torturing them on video, it is now a terrorist group! 👉 NOTE: There are more Tuareg in Niger than in Mali. The Tuareg in Mali are estimated to number between 500,000 and nearly 1 million; that is between 3% and 8% of the population. In Niger, they are estimated to be around 2 million, which is about 11% of the population. In Burkina Faso, they are estimated to number between 200,000 and 400,000, representing less than 2% of the population. In all three countries, they are mainly located in the northern parts. In Algeria, their population is estimated to be between 80,000 and 150,000.
