Today is a sad day for the Plaza team and community. We poured our blood, sweat, and tears into building a platform for long-term investors in the blockchain space. I'm sorry to the community that we didn't achieve the goals we set out to achieve. Through the process, we learned that there isn't enough long-duration capital in the space to support a protocol like Plaza today, or perhaps we simply couldn't find it. I'm incredibly proud to say the team gave it 100%, didn't pump a token for a project that wasn't scaling, and didn't rug the community. We tried to unwind the protocol honorably, and with the best interest of the community in mind, and hope people see that in due time. There are two use cases of blockchains today that we are very excited about: stablecoins for cheap international payments, and novel forms of speculation. The next frontier for me and the team behind Plaza is @opt_fun - a platform for 1000x leverage trading on @HyperliquidX. All of the volatility you can find in the memecoin market, without the rugpulls. The volatility comes from extraordinary amounts of leverage on deeply liquid assets that can't be easily manipulated. It's fast-paced and fun, and has done over $1bn in volume in the 1.5 months since we launched it as an experiment. One day, I hope to revisit structured products on blockchains. Many community members are asking why levETH is down when ETH is up... here is why: levETH is levered ETH - the leverage is market-set and dynamic. The Plaza team and the Plaza protocol do not set the leverage. The Plaza team does not pay any market makers to control the market. It's an open and permissionless protocol. In the short and long run, levETH goes up when ETH goes up, and down when ETH goes down. Over the medium term, levETH can go down even if ETH goes up if levETH is more levered when ETH price falls, and less levered when ETH price rises.
