Choosing a Cardano wallet?
The real choice is usually not “which wallet has the nicest UI?”
It is: Light wallet or full-node wallet?
A light wallet, like Yoroi, Eternl, Lace, Gero, Begin or NuFi is designed for everyday users.
It is faster to set up, uses fewer device resources and works well for sending ADA, receiving ADA, staking and managing native assets.
The trade-off is that it relies on external wallet infrastructure to read blockchain data.
Your wallet can still be self-custody, but you are not independently verifying the full Cardano blockchain on your own machine.
A full-node wallet, like Daedalus, works differently.
It downloads and validates the Cardano blockchain locally on your computer.
That gives you more independence and stronger self-verification, but it also means longer setup times, more storage, more bandwidth and a heavier desktop experience.
So which should you use?
For most people:
Light wallet makes more sense.
For more technical users who want full-chain verification:
Daedalus is the better fit.
Both have a place.
One prioritises convenience.
The other prioritises independent verification.
