This project fosters vital dialogue on integrating solar energy with Native farming practices. This gathering emphasized the importance of hearing directly from Indigenous voices, reflecting their diverse perspectives and expertise.

Sovereign Energy was honored to convene some of New Mexico’s Native farmers for a focus group this month as part of the New Mexico Tribal Agrivoltaics Education Initiative, supported by the @honnoldfound.

As Indigenous Peoples, we are far too familiar with resisting corruption, colonialism, and extractivism. We will never stop fighting for balance, equity, peace, justice, and the respect of our ways of life! Today we mourn. Tomorrow we fight!

Education, access to dedicated funding, and dismantling restrictive federal policies are essential to unlocking the full potential of tribal green energy initiatives.

The funds will support a fleet of electric vehicles, a gray water management system & a 2-acre solar array that will reduce energy costs by 80%. Underneath the panels, native gardens will support prairie restoration, showcasing a sustainable path that respects both land & culture
