why would you call strlen inside that function anyway, or use a for loop? simply do a while loop with an upper bound (does exactly the same thing, is as unsafe as this one)

this is secretly O(n**2) because the generated assembly will call strlen() every iteration of the loop

what is the time complexity of this loop? this is not a trick question this is not undefined behavior this is not a compiler quirk this exact pattern was in PostgreSQL 12 and had to be patched out
