Album of the Day 961 Neu! - Neu! I thought I'd already put this on the AotD list! I certainly play it enough (along with Harmonia). I've loved this since I 1st heard it (thanks to Julian Cope & the krautrocksampler). More varied than some reviews suggest & just wonderfulful.

Album of the Day 960 epic45 - Reckless Engineers Gentle, almost ambient melancholy. A pastoral sound that perfectly fits a slightly windy summer's day. Recommend.

Just finished "Clown Town" by Mick Herron. Another great addition to the Slough House books. Starts slowly but ramps up big time. What makes these books are the amusing observations & asides that just seem to resonate (with me anyway). Interesting to see where it goes next.

Album of the Day 959 Harold Budd/Elizabeth Fraser/Robin Guthrie/Simon Raymonde - The Moon and the Melodies Lovely laid back record. First half is more Budd & piano while the second half has more of a Cocteau's feel. It's a sparse, minimal album but I could listen to it for hours.

Album of the Day 958 Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements You know it's going to be a mixture of krautrock, pop, lounge, & repetition/the groove. Heavier/rawer than later albums but has the same knack of being both backward & forward looking. Love it

Album of the Day 957 The Utopia Strong - Doperider Another fine album from tUS. Spaced out in all the right ways.

Album of the Day 956 Thievery Corporation - Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi Beautiful summer day & one of the great summer records. Reminds of live in Brighton at the tune of the century (ha ha 2000s). Good times & an album I never get bored of.

Album of the Day 955 Craven Faults - Bounds moody kosmische-like music. The repetition draws you in & provides a framework for some atmospheric music.

Album of the Day 954 The Black Dog - Final Collected Vexations A collection of remixes/singles that is sequenced to flow like an album & is pretty damn fine. Soundtracked my walk home, then was on repeat while I finished some work & will now get one more play just for shear joy.

Album of the Day 953 Coil - Musick To Play In The Dark² A strange album that I need to be the right mood to appreciate. Today was such a day. It doesn't always work, but when it does it is stunning.

Album of the Day 952 Sigur Rós - ( ) Not much needs to be written about this choice. Gorgeous album, melancholic, soaring, all the clichés ... I just enjoy it.

Album of the Day 951 Kayla Painter - Ambient Owl Core Vol. 4 This series keeps getting better. Lovely music for a beautiful morning walk to work (well nothing's perfect). Almost listened twice (it's a longish walk) & enjoyed the mix of melody, lush ambience & a dreamy quality.

Album of the Day 950 Halina Rice - Elision Love this album. Melodic electronic dance music. Detailed evocative soundscapes that reward repeated listens. But more than that it makes you smile & move. Recommended.

Album of the Day 949 Parallel Worlds - Fragmented Another fine release from the DiN label. Dark & melodic with a good mix of beats & ambience. While it reminds me of some of the German bands I love, it updates & warps the sounds to give something special.

Yesterday I finished "A Darker Shade of Magic" by V.E. Schwab. I enjoyed it & found myself racing to finish it/find out what happened, but now I can't remember anything about the book. Not sure if that is a comment on the book or where my head is at the moment.

Album of the Day 948 Einstürzende Neubauten - Strategies Against Architecture IV Damn, EN are good. This compilation is in turn menacing, melancholy, melodic, noisy & kind of playful. A song like 'Unvollständigkeit' is everything I love in music. Birth Lunch Death.

Album of the Day 947 Dominik Eulberg - Lepidoptera These tracks flow like all good albums should (far too many fail). The rhythms are varied, with ambient washes mixing with danceable numbers. Makes it engaging. The melodies add the emotion. Basically, it is a damn fine album.

Album of the Day 946 The Bug vs Ghost Dubs - Implosion Deep, heavy start to Sunday. Only had this for a couple of days & rapidly becoming a favourite. It is minimal but captivating, sucking you in & leaving you in a foggy world of your own.
