If this is the leaked USMNT World Cup Roster it essentially makes the New York presentation event pointless. There's only four players on this roster that shouldn't be here, which overall isn't terrible.

BREAKING: The Guardian has acquired the full, 26-man US men's national team World Cup roster. A couple of big surprises on there in addition to what's already been reported. Reporting w/@jeffrueter: theguardian.com/football/2026/…

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.
While I support the administration's efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, the White House and Pentagon have left Congress in the dark on Operation Epic Fury. In Louisiana, I’ve heard from people, including President Trump’s supporters, who are concerned about this war. Until the administration provides clarity, no congressional authorization or extension can be justified.

The Senate to now lose an exceptionally brilliant and creative mind, an MD who chairs healthcare, and a person of character. Bill Cassidy’s departure is a loss for the country.

Hello from backstage. We’re in a hold behind the stage right now. Staff are going out to reset the head table.  POTUS never left and is down the hall from me. He wants the show to go on.  We’re told by his detail someone tried to get through the mags with a gun. The counter assault team did their job (unclear what that means) and the subject is now offsite. POTUS was evacuated to a hold - the rest of us from the head table are down the hall from him. Secret service had to determine if there were any other threats, we are being told there are no threats.  The building is NOT being evacuated. We are waiting for staff to reset head table to resume the program.

Ok Twitter, I can’t believe I need to clarify this but obviously Trump’s bungled mismanagement of this war is not “awesome”. As I have said a million times here, it’s a disaster and he should end the war immediately. My tweet was something called “sarcasm”.

I'm getting my knee scoped on Tuesday. I have a bad meniscus tear. It went from being a minor annoyance to crippling almost overnight, without any single instance of injury. There is some arthritis in there too, I'm hoping to avoid an eventual knee replacement (too many bad PLFs and 12 mile ruck marches, IYKYK😉). I already have an icing machine from my shoulder replacement, but does anybody have any helpful tips/ideas? Thanks in advance.

New Jersey is ready and excited to host eight FIFA World Cup matches this summer – including the World Cup Final. Since I took office, my Administration has been working to prepare for the biggest sporting event our state has ever seen – and today, NJ TRANSIT released their Mobility Plan to move 40,000 fans to and from each match safely and efficiently. In the FIFA World Cup agreement that my Administration inherited, FIFA put zero dollars towards transporting World Cup fans. It also eliminated parking at MetLife Stadium, putting the burden of transporting four times more matchday riders than typical for an event at the stadium on NJ TRANSIT. This agreement will cost NJ TRANSIT at least $48 million, while FIFA is positioned to make $11 billion during the World Cup. As I have said repeatedly, FIFA should cover the cost of transporting its fans. If it won’t, we will not be subsidizing World Cup ticket holders on the backs of New Jerseyans who rely on NJ TRANSIT every day.

To Recap: Our Administration inherited an agreement where FIFA contributes $0 toward transportation for the World Cup – while also eliminating parking at MetLife Stadium. Except for premium parking, where FIFA is charging over $200 per spot. As a result, NJ TRANSIT must carry four times the usual ridership for events at the venue, at a cost of $48 million. New Jerseyans shouldn’t be stuck with that bill while FIFA makes $11 billion in profits.

We inherited an agreement where FIFA is providing $0 for transportation to the World Cup. And while NJ TRANSIT is stuck with a $48 million bill to safely get fans to and from games, FIFA is making $11 billion. I’m not going to stick New Jersey commuters with that tab for years to come. FIFA should pay for the rides. But if they don’t – I’m not going to let New Jersey get taken for one.

Trump is never backed into a corner. Trump never bluffs and he doesn't cave. How hard is this to understand? You all have had 11 years to figure this out and he wrote a freaking book on it. Trump starts every deal at the furtherest point he is willing to go. He will deal towards a more compromised position. If the other side gives up things, he will give up some of the stuff he doesnt really care about. (Idiots call this TACO instead of deal making either because they are too stupid to understand it, or think others are too stupid and they want to push a negative talking pt about the ultimate deal made.) Both sides continue until a deal is struck. If they cant come to any agreement, Trump will revert to his original position and go with that. Iran has 7 hours and 30 minutes to make a deal or they get blown back to the stone age. So far, the deal they are trying to make isn't enough for Trump to move from his original position if reports are correct. They need to give him something or he is fine with blowing them to hell.
Erick Erickson@EWErickson

What's actually happening here is the President has embraced the "mad man" theory and is trying to convince the Iranians that he's willing to do whatever to wipe them out in hopes of getting a deal. The failure is that the President, like so many others, doesn't actually appreciate that the Iranians are mad men who live in a fundamentally religious world where they really do believe they are to wipe out Israel and their citizens are expendable. But no, this is not an unhinged President. It's a man playing a role as a negotiation tactic. Unfortunately, the President is going to be backed into a corner of extreme options by doing this, or be mocked for TACO again.

It’s taken a bit longer than I hoped but I finally feel confident enough to report on the F15 shoot down incident. All times or days are local (Tehran). Early Fri morning, an F15 flying at 12K’ was hit with a MANPAD (individual heat seeking IR missile). The 2 person crew (pilot & weapons system operator) safely ejected & landed ~2 kms from each other. The pilot was unhurt upon landing & moved to cover about 500M from where his seat landed. He immediately activated his tactical radio/beacon. About 90 mins after the shoot down, a rescue mission was launched from Iraq arriving on scene just before dawn. The package included several A-10’s, 4 x F15’s, 2 refuelling aircraft & at least 4 Blackhawk helicopters along with 4 PJ’s (para rescue specialists) & 12 members of Delta Force. Some reports include 4 x Apache attack helicopters most don’t mention that component. 2 of the F15’s hit several targets ~2 kms from the pilot’s position to distract Iranian forces while several A-10’s took turns hitting targets closer to the pilot’s position to prevent a response to the helicopters landing. The pilot was safely extracted & loaded on the Blackhawk with the PJ’s while the SF support was also extracted. As the force departed, the Blackhawk with the rescued pilot was hit with heavy machine gun fire or light anti aircraft fire (not a missile) causing minor shrapnel injuries to the crew & minor damage to the helicopter. An A-10 immediately responded & was also damaged but remained flyable & managed to destroy the weapon engaging it. Escorted by the remaining aircraft, the A-10 returned to its base & the pilot carried out a controlled ejection & was immediately recovered. The Blackhawks returned to their base in Iraq & were treated for their wounds. The rescued pilot was unharmed & has been evacuated to a US military hospital for observation. The WSO (pronounced WIZO) injured his knee & ankle during his landing but had the wherewithal to begin moving ~2km from his landing site while climbing some 7K’ to the top of an isolated ridge line where he sought shelter from observation. He then activated his emergency radio/beacon, just as the rescue of his pilot was wrapping up. After assessing the terrain & the availability of Iranian security forces, it was clear that time was on his side & a more detailed plan was needed to extract him. As the plan & resources were being identified, CIA began a deception plan that put the pilot several kms away & moving towards the water where Navy SEALS would insert via submarine & extract him. Movements were carried out to transfer the SEALS to the submarine & much of it was done more overtly than it normally would be. (I can only guess that CIA are currently assessing if Iran was given confirming int from China or Russia). When the resources were ready, a large airstrike package began carrying out strikes several kms from the WSO’s position as part of another deception plan & to block routes that could take Iranian forces into the area. As this was happening 2 C-130 Hercs landed approximately 10 kms east of the WSO’s actual position. These 2 aircraft carried 100 Delta Force members who used specialized ATV’s & motorcycles to move into position to extract the WSO. In the early hours of Sun, they had recovered the WSO & moved back to the landing zone, unfortunately after loading all their gear back onto the 2 Herc’s both became stuck trying to manoeuvre into take off position. They were then unloaded, wired for demolition & 3 additional Herc’s arrived from Iraq. Landing 1 at time, then began loading the WSO, Delta elements & their equipment while additional A-10’s & F15’s carried out strikes to prevent any Iranian forces from getting near the rescue force. After the 3rd Herc landed, was loaded & airborne the demolitions were activated destroying the 2 stuck Herc’s. Shortly after sunrise on Easter Sunday, the entire rescue force was safe as were the 2 downed aircrew. An amazing feat!
