Everyone is trying to claim me for their tribe. There’s no R next to my name, there’s no D next to my name. I’m not part of a political party, because I hate politicians. I’m just Spencer, husband to Heidi, father to Ryker and Gunner, and I’m a pissed off Angeleno who loves my city and is fed up with what corrupt politicians have done to her.

No more punishing California families! As Governor, my plan delivers $0 state income tax on the first $100,000 you earn — and a simple 7.5% flat tax above that.
No property tax hikes.
We’ll pay for it by getting spending back under control.
Time to make California affordable again! ☀️

You're not gonna believe this, but Gavin Newsom's new "free diapers" program is yet another corrupt NGO money laundering operation.
Kelly Sawyer runs Baby 2 Baby, an LA charity that provides baby gear to poor mothers. If you go to an LA private school, you get solicited to donate to it every year (and I have).
Newsom announced he's giving $20 million to Baby 2 Baby to give new mothers free diapers.
Only, he's not giving it directly to mothers in the form of supermarket vouchers or gift cards -- he can't do that, because then Kelly Sawyer's Hollywood producer husband Jamie Patricof wouldn't be able to funnel this money back into Newsom's presidential campaign.
Jamie Patricof, you see, is one of the top donors and campaign bundlers for the democrats in California. He's the son of venture capitalist Alan Patricof, one of the biggest bundlers for the Clintons. Jamie took over for Alan, who's 94.
Newsom is giving $20 million of our money to his close pals the Patricofs' pet "nonprofit." How much is going to get kicked back to Newsom's campaign? How much do the Patricof's get?
This plan is more full of poop than a newborn's Huggies.

@KeenanPeachy “Diapers and politicians should both be changed often, and for the same reason.”

@SteveHiltonx Liberals don’t care anymore that the fraud is on full display in CA. It’s time to choose better.

These diapers will be priced 3-4x market rate so he can pay his friends. If you actually wanted to do something like this, just pull the average number of births per hospital per month and make a contract with amazon. Far cheaper, same result. The point is not the diapers.

@RealBrittHughes It’s called instead of building a business that earns money by creating value in the free market, they create organizations that take money the market has already earned — through taxes — and funnel it to themselves and their friends.
That’s the real business model.
English

This sounds cool. But wait.
400 diapers will last a family with a newborn approximately five weeks.
The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone.
That money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will then provide their branded diapers to 400 participating in hospitals (California has over 500 hospitals in total.)
Meaning that instead of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy essentials like diapers, California takes their money, pumps it through a “nonprofit” that has overhead and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to provide a “free” service available only in certain locations, and that you could have bought yourself for much cheaper.

@RealBrittHughes For all Californians who have wondered how there could be so much fraud or how they actually do it, look at this! 👆🏻
Funneling $12.4 million through ngo’s and gross overpayment deals for a cheap product before giving it back to a select few at ~$.15 of worth on the $1. Mad yet?
