Morning run with the oldest in the stroller. Probably getting close to the end of these as he’s five this October. Feels like just yesterday I was pushing him around in this thing as a newborn. Time is flyin.

I assumed most brokers were self centered with poor morals. I swore I would never become one… I started a brokerage and property management firm. Planning my own wedding was stressful and not fun, I hate planning parties and events and said I’d never do event planning. I started an annual summer event (CRE Launch) that’s like organizing 20 back to back events for over 100 people over the course of 10 weeks. Be careful what you say you will never do! 😅

@SullyBusiness It's scary. I put my phone in my glovebox to model behavior for my daughters. I worry so much about when they start driving. I see so many driving with their nose in their phone, both hands typing.

@realEstateTrent What’s cool to me, is that in all likelihood he started by buying just one property.

You see a wall of local business cards. I see a list of acquisition targets that have never heard EBITDA. We are not the same.

This would have been crazy in college if the guys who played football knew how to use a calculator.

@robbiehendricks I don’t know how to break it to you, but 3,000 units makes you a big fish..Even if the pond isn’t that big.

Little local guys with 3,650 units 😵😂
Robbie Hendricks@robbiehendricks

@JulieChangRE I'd also ask - what do we define as private equity here? Technically I'm a private equity firm, but we're little local guys buying local apartments and making them nice. Most PE firms aren't Blackrock. They're small owners that are building little local or regional firms.

Some people have to finish absolutely everything on their plate and won’t leave the table otherwise. Why?

@nkecom @ecom_cork Believe you might have been thinking of @BillDA saying that. But I think that was more about doing your own fulfillment, not if you’re manufacturing.

Brand is 3 years old next week. We’ve double every year Started in my kitchen with a few hundred dollars. Invested 250k back into the business last summer for this facility that will take us to 9 figures. Just got employees full benefits, got enough credit card points to fly the family around. Got a new truck, Pretty cool.

Is there a consensus view on playing Christian music in an office with foot traffic? For context, I'm in a leasing office at an apartment complex in Austin and it's getting piped through the speakers here.

Hate to say it, but the vast majority of people currently in poverty, if handed $19k all at once, would likely end up worse off. Studies on sudden windfalls (lottery winners, inheritances, even some cash transfer programs) show high rates of spending on depreciating assets, cars, parties, drugs/alcohol, or bad investments rather than building skills, businesses, or stability. The vast majority will be back to where they were or worse off quickly.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of the noblesse oblige. What’s stopping someone like Jeff Bezos from gifting every American the maximum non-taxable gift limit?
