A Spanish court has refused to fine NordVPN in a case linked to LaLiga’s fight against illegal football streaming. Earlier this year, a court ordered VPN providers like NordVPN and ProtonVPN to block access to pirate football streams. LaLiga later asked the court to punish NordVPN for not following the order. However, the court decided not to issue fines after accepting that there was a real technical dispute about whether the blocking could actually be done by the VPN provider. The decision is important because it shows how difficult it can be to apply anti-piracy rules to VPN services. VPN companies say their systems are built for privacy and security, not for monitoring or blocking specific content. The bad thing is the ruling does not cancel the original order Sc: torrentfreak.com/spanish-court-…

Meta is lobbying for KOSA in the US. But watch what they already did in Australia, broken down by TechWinCyber in his new video. Australia was the test case. Now they're coming for you. NewsCorp is also behind this. They must be stopped. youtube.com/watch?v=kUMItA…

Adults are treated like children globally. There is 0 reason for this. It does nothing. What is the point of censoring an image when the book must be wrapped up, put in a special part of the store, and even the clerk has to check your ID? There is 0 reason to do this. The artist wants to draw it. The customer wants to see it. It is globally a mental illness people tolerate this.

Japan’s censorship rules are becoming absolute fucking bullshit. I hate that my art might someday be forced to look like the image on the right, with ugly black blocks slapped everywhere 😭

They're not running scared at all. Meta and X have already publicly declared support for KOSA. The whole thing is designed to deanonymize us from the internet. More and more people are seeing through your scam.

Two guilty verdicts from juries. Now, Big Tech is running scared. Meta, TikTok, & others are terrified of facing a courtroom for their harms to kids. Let’s keep up the momentum, & pass the Kids Online Safety Act. theverge.com/policy/935552/…

This will work out the same way it worked out in Australia: mass VPN adoption for adults who don’t want to deal with the hassle of doxing themselves, and mass circumvention by British kids who want to use the Internet like everyone else on the planet.

EXCL: Sir Keir Starmer is expected to ban social media for under 16s. A government consultation on curbs ends on Tuesday & no final decision will be taken until after that. But I understand No10 policy chiefs have privately said they expect a total ban thesun.co.uk/news/39197313/…

Freedom campaigner Montgomery Toms warns that the UK government's obsession with digital ID and facial recognition could lead to a Chinese-style social credit system, eroding privacy and freedom. He recounts his own arrest for expressing politically incorrect views, highlighting how such a system could be used to target political opponents.

Let me you a little secret. This is a lie. This bill is called the Stop CSAM Act so that no one can look like a bad person by opposing it. But this bill does nothing for CSAM. In fact, this is a bill to gut Section 230 completely. Trojan horse of all trojan horses.

My genuine hatred for the corrupt and ill-informed is at an all time high. This is a brain damaged rep voted in by brain damaged people. Evidence? Look at what it espouses. Parents need to parent. Companies dont “allow children” anything. The parent does. Stop fear mongering around children.

AI chatbots are putting the lives of children across the country at risk right now. Congress must establish criminal penalties immediately for companies that allow children to access harmful content through these chatbots.   I had the pleasure of talking to @WCHLChapelboro about my push to pass the @NCYPAlliance-endorsed GUARD Act to prevent these companion chatbots from taking the lives of even more children across the country.

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms
BREAKING NEWS: The Justice Centre announces that it has delivered a national petition signed by 42,344 Canadians from every province and territory calling on Members of Parliament to defeat Bill C-22, the federal government’s proposed surveillance legislation. Justice Centre board member and constitutional historian Dr. John Robson formally presented the petition in Ottawa, warning that Bill C-22 would significantly expand state surveillance powers while undermining the privacy protections essential to a free society. “Privacy is not a luxury in a free society,” said Dr. Robson. “Privacy protects freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of association, and the ability of ordinary Canadians to live without constant monitoring by the state.” Read the full story here: jccf.ca/42344-canadian… The Justice Centre is Canada’s leading civil liberties organization fighting for Charter rights and freedoms in the courts of law and in the court of public opinion. The Stop Killing Games campaign just had one of its biggest moments in the European Parliament. During a debate in Strasbourg, many Members of the European Parliament spoke in support of better consumer rights for video games. Most speakers agreed that companies should not be able to shut down games that people had already paid for. Support came from several political groups, including the Greens, Renew Europe, S&D, The Left, and even some EPP members Many MEPs said games should be treated more like products than temporary online services. They argued that buyers should not lose access just because a company ends support or shifts players to a newer title. Some MEPs criticized the European Commission for not taking stronger action. There are concerns it may issue only a non-binding statement instead of new laws. The debate showed that Stop Killing Games is now being taken seriously at the highest political level in Europe. The discussion is no longer only about gaming but also about digital ownership, consumer rights, and companies’ obligations after purchase.

👎Australia's social media ban is proving to fail on many fronts New data reveals that the ban is preventing teenagers' access to news. The lesson for the UK is clear - a social media ban would mean ID checks for all of us and it would come at serious cost to our rights, freedom and access to information. 🚨The SMART Kids Act is very concerning...not the bill itself, but the almost certain escalation we are going to see. 1⃣Introduced on May 12th, the SMART Kids Act directs the Surgeon General to study and develop recommendations for screen time limits for children. 2⃣Yesterday, the Surgeon General advisory about screen time and children was released and included just such a study. If this passes, which it seems extremely likely, the Surgeon General will come back to Congress with recommended screen time limits to kids which will turn into age-based mandates. ❓How do you know the age of a user? Age verification. ❓How do you enforce screen time limits? Session monitoring. ❓How do you monitor sessions across different devices? Device level tracking infrastructure. For everybody. This SMART Kids Act is bad news...huge mission creep for Digital ID and government surveillance. I didn't even mention parental rights...but with big gov who needs parents?!

British citizens are flocking to Trump’s free speech portal in huge numbers, according to the US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy. Sarah Rogers said Brits make up the clear majority of visitors to a VPN landing page set up by the White House last year to help users circumvent the UK’s censorious online laws. Rogers said this reflects the fact that Britons are living under a government “hostile to freedom of speech”. The Trump administration has repeatedly criticised Britain’s Orwellian Online Safety Act. Speaking at an event in Washington DC, Rogers said: “It’s no coincidence. America’s roots are in Britain. The roots of our common law are in Britain. We have more in common with these people than divides us. “Just because governments and key sectors of civil society are hostile to freedom of speech doesn’t mean the people are.” The administration’s national security strategy says it is interested in “cultivating resistance” within European politics, warning that censorship and restrictions on free speech risk “civilisational erasure”. Rogers added: “I think it is America’s role to advance receptivity among European publics to certain ideas: ideas like ‘mass migration disrupts societies’; ideas like ‘Europe should take a stronger hand in its own defence’; ideas like ‘the government should focus on policing the streets, not the tweets’.” Read more below 👇
