I watched a video where Teniola Aladese spoke about not feeling safe in her estate and how men do not get it, and I completely agree. I once followed a male friend to a football pitch at night. It was like a park, with different pitches and games going on. I needed to use the restroom and told him. He casually pointed in its direction and told me to go. I asked if he could come with me or at least wait outside. He said it was not a big deal and totally safe. That is a man’s reality. As a woman who is aware of the world and how women are seen, I would not even use that restroom alone during the day, let alone at night. I could count the number of women around the pitch on one hand, and most of them, like me, were there because they came with male acquaintances. All I could think about was a million and one things that could go wrong if I walked into that restroom alone. That is my reality as a woman. I know safety is about survival. Most men cannot relate and definitely do not get it.

At first, I thought it was a mistake on my part, but it’s happened one too many times to be accidental. There’s no way I’m paying for @SpotifyAfrica Premium and still being forced to listen to Mishaal Tamer. WTF is that? I blocked the artist, yet I was still taken to his profile when I opened the App while listening to something else entirely. At this point, I’m very close to cancelling my subscription.

I’ve been watching #PowerStarz series and its spinoffs (except #RaisingKanan) since 2014. With #PowerForce ending, I think it’s time for me to sign out of the Power universe.
