@DanielleFong Sth like this costs about 20 bucks to create a HQ version on TaoBao(if you know how to find the artist) and probably another 10 for printing

Typescript solved JavaScript like Heroin solved Cocaine. If you leave a medium sized node or front end project aside and come back to it 6 month later, chances are it will never work again. Spent 2-3 hours bringing up a docs site last night, lots of breakage, libraries breaking, incompatible interfaces, what a living hell that is. Starting from scratch was inevitable. There is NO reason to invest in code craft or tooling on your typical Js/Ts project because 6 months from now it’ll all be obsolete. Go retro when you can. @dhh was right.

🚨 There's been alot of chatter over the puzzling amount of total sales Nvidia $NVDA recorded in Singapore during Q3. Singapore, a country of 6 million, now represents 15% of Nvidia’s total sales, up from 9% last year. 🇸🇬 That has sparked speculation that Nvidia could potentially be involved in a scheme to ship to China and avoid the new U.S. chip export restrictions. If that were the case, then shipping to Singapore would be a nice loophole for Nvidia to bypass the China curbs. The DOJ and SEC might want to look into Nvidia's Singapore sales. $NVDA 🇸🇬

I am deeply pleased by this result, after ~72 very intense hours of work. Coming into OpenAI, I wasn’t sure what the right path would be. This was the pathway that maximized safety alongside doing right by all stakeholders involved. I’m glad to have been a part of the solution.
OpenAI@OpenAI

We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.

And I often think about how we face the two different life choices now which are: - Open internet access but have pay 50$ for a tshirt that should’ve cost 10 - Need to VPN to access everything but buy everything cheap as dirt and fee delivery in your door next day

I’ve been trying to find the perfect analogy to explain how online shopping in China is completely different from rest of the world because the extremely matured manufacture and delivery chain. I simply can’t find one.

Sure true!! The best part about the @OpenAI story will be the amazing stuff we deliver the next few years -with the same team, in the same buildings, guided by the same mission. The roadmap for @OpenAI for 2024 is lit. Hell, 2023 ain’t even over yet. This will all be noise.
Ann Bordetsky@annbordetsky

One thing that’s certain here… the OpenAI team will be bonded for LIFE after this experience moving through major crisis together breeds unity + social glue like no other this will be an unbelievably tight knit talent mafia in the years to come More than PayPal, Uber, FB, etc

@geoffreyirving Both you and the board said the same thing: Sam lies. So what he lies about? Is it personal or work related? If it’s related did he lie about development progress or AI safety? None of you said anything concrete, and this only make things worse.

I have no details of OpenAI's Board’s reasons for firing Sam, and I am conflicted (lead of Scalable Alignment at Google DeepMind). But there is a large, very loud pile on vs. people I respect, in particular Helen Toner and Ilya Sutskever, so I feel compelled to say a few things.
