I remember the exact feeling of landing in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Cold I had never felt before. A city I didn't know. No one expecting me anywhere. Just me, a suitcase, and a quiet voice in my head saying "you have to make this work." That was 3 years ago. Today I work for the NHS. I'm building a life to be proud of. And next month, my partner and I are heading to Paris and Barcelona to celebrate our birthdays. But the road between that airport arrival and today? Nobody prepared me for it. The career stuff nobody explains. The money mistakes that cost me. The loneliness they don't put in the brochure. This account is everything I wish someone had told me. If you're an African immigrant building your life in the UK this is for you. 🧵 Let's talk about it.

I will not forget when @taadelodun used to hammer on volunteering then, it all paid off. Congratulations on your success story.

I’ve been responding to DMs since yesterday about how I got my skilled worker visa and my answer keeps surprising people. It wasn’t my MSc. It wasn’t my Graduate Visa. It wasn’t even my CV. It wasn’t my Driver’s licence. It was VOLUNTEERING. When I arrived in the UK as an MSc student, I made a decision many people didn’t understand. I volunteered whenever I could. Not because I had free time. Not because I didn’t need money. But because I knew experience, relationships, and visibility mattered. Volunteering put me in rooms I wouldn’t have entered otherwise. It helped me gain UK experience. It helped me build confidence. It helped me meet people already on the path I wanted to follow. Most importantly, it opened doors that applications alone couldn’t open. Looking back, volunteering wasn’t something I did on the side. It was one of the biggest investments I made in my future. Many of the opportunities I’ve had can be traced back to one decision: Showing up before I was guaranteed a reward. Sometimes the opportunity you’re praying for is hiding inside the experience you’re refusing to gain. 🇳🇬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧 And a special thank you to Mr @taadelodun. His content was part of my journey, and I learned a lot from following and applying the insights he shared. 🙏

For those who were asking, in case you don't know, this is my inspirer, mentor, and afinimona when it comes to European tours✈️🛳🚡🛰 Those tips shared dating back to 2022 are working perfectly for me and my traveling community. Next week, we will go to Wrocław 🇵🇱 and watch the Speedway Grand Prix Round 5 with a very low budget. Life is not that hard at all. Once again, thank you, boss @taadelodun

One thing I love about Europe is that when all the rich people have left Monaco, you can still fly to Nice for less than £100 from London, using Google flights, take a train from Nice to Monaco, do a day trip, enjoy yourself and come back. This life is not hard 😂

Your usefulness to your parents may not go beyond help me charge my phone, help me call so and so, help me check this, what is this and the likes Do these things diligently and cheerfully while you can. The mansion you hope to build for them one day may never happen.

@thefeezco @Ademola_Odumesi @taadelodun Go and do thanksgiving in your mosque and not bring this to twitter. Nigerians are NOT the only people who travel abroad. Indians and Pakistani are more than Nigerians in the UK,yet we don't see their citizens coming online to post and celebrate their visa on S/Media like this

By the next World Cup, he will be 38.😭 For those asking why the Somali referee Omar Artan cannot officiate matches in Mexico or Canada. According to the BBC, "All on-pitch officials must stay at the base in Florida for training, preparation and security. It would therefore not be possible for Artan to stay outside the United States and only referee matches played in Canada or Mexico."

The first mistake was hosting the game in a country that really doesn’t care about the game in the first place. And to now cap it up, a country that is banning multiple other countries from coming to their country. So yeah, FIFA dropped the BALL on this one.

Most of the opportunities I’ve had in the UK came from one thing. Not luck. Not connections. Not being the smartest person in the room. ASKING QUESTION. Questions like . How did you get that role? What qualification mattered most? What mistakes should I avoid? Some of the best advice I’ve ever received came from simple conversations. My journey from MSc student → Graduate Route → NHS Rehabilitation Assistant → Skilled Worker Visa wasn’t built alone. It was built on lessons from people who had already walked the path. That’s also why I appreciate people like @taadelodun . His content was part of my journey and helped me make better decisions along the way. One thing I’ve learned: The answer you’re looking for is often with someone who’s a few steps ahead. The question is: Are you willing to ask? Who’s one person whose advice changed your life?

The lottery of passport strikes again. They tell you to work hard and be the best, but they still hold your passport against you. As a young african, do your best but dont be too hard on yourself in situations like this. Sometimes it is not about talent, but things beyond your control🙏
