@astuaryking@dazjamescarter@SimonFraser00 No, I agree with you they have probably done it since Eckert became manager. The EFL probably only found whatsapp messages relating to the 3 games
@thommo44@dazjamescarter@SimonFraser00 The one where they admit to cheating, got caught lying, and even Eckert acknowledged they gained a sporting advantage?
If you genuinely believe they spied in December, then put the binoculars away for four months before doing it again, you're naive. He's been at it for years.
@astuaryking@dazjamescarter@SimonFraser00 I'm getting confused, so we are all saying
a) they cheated
b) they had an advantage
Whatever we all think is not going to change anything now
@dazjamescarter@thommo44@SimonFraser00 Your opinion is uninformed drivel. Mine isn't. If no advantage was gained and it had no impact, he wouldn't do it, and he wouldn't keep doing it.
@astuaryking@dazjamescarter@SimonFraser00 Have you read the EFL report? The only thing we do know that was impacted by their cheating, was Southampton not being in the final (which in all liklihood they would probably have won).
@dazjamescarter@thommo44@SimonFraser00 You are in no position to be able to say what was and what wasn't impacted by their cheating. Really not sure why people keep peddling this line.
@SimonFraser00 I think the real question is why were Middlesbrough given the opportunity to contest the game without earning it. They lost over 2 legs. Should've been a playoff between Middlesbrough and Millwall that decided who faced Hull.
I want Hull to win because they are the only genuinely innocent party in all of this. Southampton are obviously the villains of the piece and I would be a lot more pro-Hull had they been playing today and not thrown out.
But the EFL and Boro aren't absolved from criticism either. The spying was caught/reported BEFORE the first leg, yet all parties went along with playing the semi-final anyway. That means the EFL/Boro financially gained from the gate receipts and TV money for them, only to argue after Boro lost that neither game really mattered.
People rightly say it is normal practice to reinstate Team B when Team A but were found to have cheated. That is true, but normally that is because the cheating is discovered after the fact, which isn't the case here.
I'm a boxing fan and on the rare occasion that one of the fighters fails a PED test before the fight, the other fighter will agree to go ahead with the fight anyway. But that is on the proviso that if they choose to do that, then lose that fight, they can't then complain and get the result overturned later....which is essentially what Boro have done here
@CWUnews By voting Yes, can you confirm the workloads be more manageable and will there be more Saturdays off? How will this be achieved?
Also, will Royal mail recognise the vote?
When news broke on Tuesday I was embarrassed about my club, but in the intervening days, listening to the whole world enjoying giving us a kicking, I am more inclined to fight back and say keep TE, tell the rest of the football world to fuck off and let’s get behind our club.
West Ham fans begging Leeds to roll over is so cringe. As if a professional outfit would even contemplate it is ludicrous.
The game is in our hand alone, a draw is good enough but we should go for a win. The only good thing to come out of this season is Roberto De Zerbi.
@CWUnews 1 more Saturday off every 6 weeks? The CWU and Royal Mail said this would be in place for October last year, offering various shift patterns, then saying a specific office could only offer 2. Royal mail will not honour any agreement so why dangle carrots?
@dkaustin87 For a moment, imagine you werent a Southampton supporter and look at this from any other angle. You will look back in 6 months and agree with most of the comments on here
#saintsfc will get the blame, but the EFL have created this mess of subsequent legal claims.
- all teams carry out intelligence
- the benefits gained from ‘spying’ are minuscule, football is won on the pitch
- clubs & players cheat in all sorts of ways and it goes unpunished
@JakesBurna Regardless who Hull play, they will be the underdog (they finished 6th). How can Middlesboro have an advantage when they didnt know they were playing until Monday night?
O’Hara is bang on here. Boro have a much bigger advantage for the final now than Southampton had for the semi. #hcafc have been shafted.
What a shambles English football has become.
@BBCMOTD Can't wait for the chants at away grounds next season, every team will bee singing ''Wemberley, Wemberley....'' whilst doing the Harwood Bellend spy impersonation
@g2mcc@philmcnulty Id have suggested the expulsion, the prize for promotion is too great for a monetary punishment. Its quite simple, dont cheat (or dont get caught)
Having been at the game between Oxford United & Southampton on Boxing Day when Saints lost, they should have ditched this disgraceful spying business there and then because not only was it flagrant breach of the rules, it clearly wasn't even doing them any good. They were awful.
@g2mcc@philmcnulty As soon as someone uses Manchester City as their defence, they lose all credibility. Especially when the club were caught red handed and admitted the crime
@philmcnulty Fairly decent run since that though.
Manchester City have financially doped football for the last decade without a button but Southampton get thrown out of a game they won because an intern might have watched training?
