@RidePATCO They didn't replace that middle section of steps in the 3rd/4th photos. It's still falling apart

@alyssaleann Babe why are u posting ur full ip address online
English

@GuyCaballero3 @KevinMLevy @jongeeting Just east of Broadway, before exiting the portal, you can actually see the bit of ROW they originally planned to use for this.
English

@KevinMLevy @jongeeting Where else could they possibly connect? Have you looked at the ROW? Besides, they’re operated by two different agencies, so there won’t be a free transfer anyway. G-C pax are more likely to hop on a bus. And full train? Can’t say I’ve ever encountered that since COVID…
English

I thought this was about New Jersey’s Glassboro-Camden line which also inexplicably doesn’t connect with the actual PATCO line into Philadelphia…

@JKA2020_2030 @GovSherrillNJ The old bridge is the portal bridge. The new one is the portal NORTH bridge.
English

@GovSherrillNJ No one has even ridden over the bridge yet, but somehow there’s overhead wire issues.

English

The new Portal North Bridge is up and running!
We promised to deliver a reliable, faster ride by March 15 – and we’re delivering.
Starting this Monday, trains out of New York City will travel over this new bridge. The old bridge, which more than 200,000 commuters relied on daily, will be phased out by fall.
Thank all the laborers, engineers, electrical workers, crews from @NJTRANSIT, @Amtrak, and more – who showed up every day, rain and shine, to deliver this project on time for passengers.

English

@SEPTAYAC Are people forgetting we have regional rail to the airport?
English

You can not be serious. May this never find Philly 🙏
Everything Georgia@GAFollowers
Atlanta is starting a new public transit system near the airport that uses small self-driving electric pods. People can ride these pods on demand, and they travel on a special path without a driver.

@LolOut160461 @RBRHub They're calling it the most AI reply ever
English

@RBRHub Even with zero battery, Max still pushed the car to the limit. That shows the skill of a true champion. Respect to the team and engine crew. 💪🏁
English

🚨 Max says he started the race with an empty battery
"It was terrible, I had no battery left at all. Somehow I used up the entire battery during the formation lap. I don't know how it happened, but at the start, my battery was at zero, so there was no power at all. The car is quite good; we know there's potential. We're not bad on the engine side either. Right now, our shortcomings are split down the middle; half from the chassis, half from the engine. It's a surmountable situation, nothing shocking. I'm very negative about the regulations, but I'm proud of my team and the engine crew. They really did a fantastic job.

@aelita1917 @Roboticools2000 @_NotA_Bot_ That's fair but still, would it really be a problem to put some 3rd rail shoes on the locomotive (like Metro North) and/or APV to eliminate the need for the battery APVs?
English

@toads4everr @Roboticools2000 @_NotA_Bot_ The Airos were ordered like that because a lot of service patterns run in both electric and diesel territory, and the required locomotive change is a huge cost and time sink. Kind of stuck with it so long as the electric territory is small
English

Glad to get more modern transits, but I really hope that the NEC can run 12 or eventually 16 car trains and finally start to bring costs down to an internationally normal level.
Not sure the engines are rated for that though...
Tom Roussey@tomroussey7news
Today at Union Station in DC, Amtrak gave us a tour of the new Airo trains that will debut in the Pacific Northwest this year and on the East Coast starting next year. This thread of video from our tour will show some of the features the new trains will have.
English

@Roboticools2000 @_NotA_Bot_ Yeah, the whole diesel locomotive with an APV concept is really weird to me, especially the battery one. Not sure why they can't just order SC42-DM Chargers to replace the P32AC-DMs?
English

@_NotA_Bot_ @toads4everr Amtrak continuing to ignore EMUs is so frustrating. Airos seem great for mid range corridors inc those that run on the NEC but there’s no reason to haul a diesel engine around on the NEC, nor to have a single power car. Would be great to see dedicated NEC emu fleet w/ longer sets
English

@KhyberSen @_NotA_Bot_ Yeah obviously 10 minutes to reach 125 isn't good at all and would make it impossible to reach top speed between many stations. Just pointing out what the existing equipment is capable of.
English

@toads4everr @_NotA_Bot_ A FLIRT can do 0-100 mph in about 70 seconds and to 125 mph in under 2 min. 10 min is extremely slow. You don't want that.
English

@Out_of_Spec @Rivian As @itskyleconner always says it’s ok if you have 260mile range of you can charge 400kwph

@_NotA_Bot_ That would require spending money on trains though and this is America

@toads4everr If only there was a way to make improvements in the half century since they went bankrupt

@rachelmillman Oh yeah, 9 times out of 10 i wouldn't want to, but it's technically an option

@toads4everr for sure, but sometimes you can’t/dont want to go at midnight
