What Francis cared about was distressing conservatives. Therefore he’d encourage ultra-liberals for as long as possible, safe in the knowledge that he could pull the rug from under them at the last minute.

@HumanusUnus @jzipple Guess you're right...folks usually interpret "brain rot" comments re: bishops as laudatory. It encourages them to give assent, as is their Catholic obligation.

Catholics: if your immediate reaction to anything the Holy Father does is suspicion, that’s ok. But the constant, immediate *public* responses—w/out any time allowed for prayer that might enable one to submit the will to the Pope’s authority—are doing no service to the Church.
