Applause for alumnus Wang Tonghan @Tsinghua_IIIS, who received the Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award for building provably aligned multi-agent systems! It sets a solid foundation for reliable, high-performing AI by combining deep learning with mechanism design.

I’m thrilled and deeply honored to share that I have been selected as the 2025 Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award recipient. I’m also excited to share that I will be giving a 45-minute presentation on this work at AAMAS Conference in Cyprus. More details to come. My dissertation, “Advancing Deep Learning for Multi-agent AI: Mechanisms, Organizations, and Dynamics,” reflects a journey that would not have been possible without the guidance and support of so many people. I am especially grateful to my advisors, David Parkes and Milind Tambe, for their mentorship, encouragement, and invaluable support throughout this process. I’m also deeply thankful to my collaborators, colleagues, friends, and family, whose support has meant so much along the way. This recognition is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this field. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.
