This cold turns no-drug or no-alcohol shelter rules into a death sentence. People die outside over criteria instead of being allowed to warm up. People with substance use disorder are people too — loved, valued, deserving of care. Prevention saves lives.

We headed out for our weekly distro this morning. We took out warm sandwiches, hot coffee, and supplies, and we set up a heater so people could sit down and get warm while they eat. Folks are doing okay with the cold, but are really looking for heaters to stay warm overnight.
