BREAKING: I’m running to succeed Ron DeSantis as Florida’s next Republican Governor to make life more affordable for you and your family. I’ll stop the H-1B scam, tell Blackstone they can't buy our homes, cancel AI Data Centers, and abolish property taxes.

Husqvarna sent me a stack of chainsaws to give away because a bear stole mine & Internet went wild. I’m adding a 4 day/3 nt stay to my Smoky Mtn cabin. (Side by side tours, meet Jimmy & me, see old moonshine stills, crazy views). To enter (100% free, no purchase necessary): 1) Follow @BowTiedBroke 2) Comment on THIS post with literally anything (tag friends = extra luck with the dartboard later 👀) Contest runs exactly 24 hours —-> closes tomorrow at 10:00 AM EST At close, @grok will instantly pick 20 random commenters with accounts older than 3 months. Then, I put those 20 names on a dartboard, film one throw, and THAT person wins everything. No bots, no BS, fully transparent. Grok posts the 20 here, the dart decides destiny 🎯 Sorry international followers (not that I have that many) U.S. followers only for this one. Cabin is in Tennessee, chainsaws are heavy, and bears don’t do passports. Let’s go! Drop a reply and let’s see who the Chainsaw stealing bear chooses.

@Will_Schryver Would your say military leadership experience would transfer over well? Seems like similar “rough” personality types to manage in both

I’m convinced SMB Searchers should stay away from home services. Unless you have direct experience managing “blue collar” employees, you’re setting yourself and the company up for failure. Trust me, your “white collar” corporate experience doesn’t translate.

@seanryanlayton Really enjoyed readying this! I served in Peru too, Chiclayo. I had a minor break from the church while I was in the military but recently came back and it’s been better than ever! Thanks for sharing it

I left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2011. Even after a 2-year mission in Peru, I became convinced that Joseph Smith Jr. must have been a fraud. Applying the same skepticism, my faith in the Savior quickly unraveled. I reasoned that a man couldn’t have possibly walked on water or come back to life either. If Christianity was a lie, I concluded, then all religion must be too. After all, weren’t religious zealots the ones behind 9/11? Didn't religion lead to the dark ages? Despite abandoning faith, and considering myself secular humanist/atheist, I held onto many of the values my parents and church leaders had taught me growing up. Regardless, I resolved to stand up for what I saw as "truth." Like Saul of Tarsus, I turned against The Church of Jesus Christ and its people. Like other detractors today, I created YouTube videos, wrote blogs, and even started a memoir to oppose the Latter-day Saints. Then in a small room in 2018, days after starting this memoir dismantling "mormonsim", everything changed. The Lord brought me back. I saw a light so bright that I fell to the floor. At this same moment, I saw a vision, which lasted for many minutes. I knew God was real. I knew Jesus Christ was the Savior of the world. And I knew The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His true and living church on the earth. After this, while reading the Book of Mormon, God's Spirit bore witness to me of its truthfulness and I received a powerful confirmation the book was of God, and that Nephi was a true prophet. The following months were the hardest of my life. As I failed to live up to the light and knowledge I'd been given, and struggled to repent of my sins, I began to fall into darkness. The adversary had great control over me, and it suffices me to say that I'm lucky to be alive today. Over time, through faith Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, the Lord helped me get back on my feet. His church was there for me every step of the way. He had loved me the entire time, even when I had been deceived. He's more merciful than we can possibly realize. Feel free to share. You're invited to hear Him. Listen to God's word through His chosen servants this April 2025, in preparation for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16 churchofjesuschrist.org/feature/genera…

Nearly a decade ago, I had a big problem. I was a young corporate associate, fresh out of Duke Law, buried in student loan debt. Worse, my career locked me into big-city life. Corporate lawyers don’t work in small towns. A big school leads to a big firm, which means a big city. The problem? I didn’t want the big city life. I wanted to be in Central Florida—a place I had lived before and never stopped thinking about. Why? I’ll get to that. But the point is, I felt stuck. My options: stay in the big city and earn, or move to Florida and take a pay cut I couldn’t afford. So, I did what anyone would do. I went to the big city and grinded. In under three years, I paid back $250,000 in student loans. I sacrificed, saved, and repaid every penny. But the problem wasn’t solved. Even with no debt, moving to Florida meant a 50% pay cut. There wasn’t a corporate infrastructure to support my work. But that’s where I wanted to be. I wanted to raise my kids there. I wanted my life there. Why? Family-friendly activities. Warm weather, almost year-round. Most importantly, it’s where I feel at my best. Every time I walk outside, I feel like a million dollars. Fluffy clouds. High humidity. Green grass, golf courses, palm trees, lakes, alligators. It feels like home. And for my kids? Disney, Universal, water parks, golf—an endless list of ways to have an incredible childhood. I grew up in Detroit. I had a good childhood, but it was cold, there wasn’t much to do, and I wanted more for my kids. So, I kept grinding. Seven years at the biggest law firms. Great money. But soulless work. Then, I found something that changed everything. Entrepreneurship-through-Acquisition (ETA). Small business M&A. I had been an M&A attorney for years, so buying and selling businesses wasn’t new. But the idea that individuals—not just corporations—could buy small businesses? That was new. And once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it. I read everything I could. I started networking with people who were doing it. And I realized something. Most of them were just like me. They wanted something different. A better quality of life. More control. More time with their families. And I fell in love with the space. Before long, my passion turned into something obvious. Starting a law firm focused on this wasn’t just possible—it was inevitable. So, I launched my own firm. And that gave me something I never had before. Complete location freedom. Now, I live in Central Florida. My kids go to an incredible school that looks like a movie set. They have endless opportunities. This past weekend, we went to Disney. We played golf. We went to a water park. We went to a birthday party. My life today is exactly what I dreamed of 10 years ago. It reminds me of Steve Jobs’ quote about connecting the dots in hindsight. Back then, I had no idea how I would get here. But somehow, by taking action and staying focused, I built the life I wanted. Is it perfect? Hell no. I still have challenges. A lot of stress. Hard work. Building a law firm is tough. Entrepreneurship is tough. Fatherhood is tough. Life is tough. But I wake up every morning, no alarm clock at 4 or 5 am, ready to run through brick walls. Because I know you don’t have to accept the default path. You can go out there and build the life you want. And as I look ahead—10, 20, 30 years—I know I’ll keep moving forward. And so can you. If you stay focused. If you take action. Have a good Sunday!

I want to start a serious thread. Name a non-fiction book (or two) that was transformational to your thinking. Of course, some will say books like the Bible, but this is a chance to crowd source fresh ideas. I will drop a few throughout the day, but I want yours. Let's do this.
