My core thesis on the future of scientific discovery is a move from institutions to networks, driven by powerful AI and DeSci. The @bioprotocol launch is a foundational event in this timeline. The future is scientific agents on crypto rails. @triplicate_xyz article in comments!

The solution isn't iterating on broken systems. We need new infrastructure: decentralized compute networks, scientific DAOs testing novel incentive structures, and bridge programs helping researchers transition from institutions. All built for an AI-first research world. 8/8

But risks exist: AI-powered labs could create knowledge gaps that grow exponentially wider than today's academic divides. DAOs might optimize for token value over scientific truth. The speed of discovery could outpace our ethical frameworks. We need careful system design. 7/8

Our first research article "TR01: From Institutions to Networks" details how the convergence of crypto and AI will catalyze the deinstitutionalization of science. Link in comments. 1/8

the limitations to scientific progress are not epistemic. the low hanging fruit has not been picked. stagnation is a function of perverse institutional incentives and hyper-bureaucratization. we need deinstitutionalization + new institutions.

In biomedicine, we try to understand the ocean by building better microscopes to study individual water molecules. Stagnation hides behind a superficial facade of progress. We need better explanations, more integrated theories, and less reductionist approaches.

We believe that the best use cases for web3 x science + healthcare are only visible to the rare founders and teams that actively straddle these disparate worlds. Caspar and his team fit the bill perfectly. We are excited to see them revolutionize the space.

We are thrilled to support @Amino_Chain as our first investment! We met @casparbarnes123 at DeSci Berlin in 2024 and were blown away by the team's ability to rapidly deliver on a vision that we believe will completely transform modern biobanking.

Crypto might be the key to the future of science 👀 We spoke to @GolatoTyler on Internet Explorers last week about DeSci, & covered ai16z, memecoins, and more 👇

We ended with a richly engaging panel involving all speakers, and followed up with a 3-hour salon with over 25 participants. We see these engagements as representing early steps toward a future where cognitive technologies bolster rather than diminish human sovereignty.

youtu.be/TWLB5t-Kzg8 Michael Edward Johnson @johnsonmxe introduces his principles of vasocomputation, examining how the brain's vascular system acts as a computational substrate for active inference through smooth muscle tension patterns, with deep implications for understanding both trauma and the developmental changes occasioned by habitual meditative practice.
