A couple times a year I take PTO & simulate my life as if I’m financially free. I sleep in, grab a bagel sandwich & a coffee from my favorite breakfast spot, go to the gym, then hang out at home & do whatever I want. Today is one of those days & I’m ready for it to be my reality!

@lindsay__stamp Yep. I got let go in 2024. Worked at a cafe for a year making coffee and food. Started a corp job in Feb, and still at the cafe on the weekends. Happiest I’ve been in a while, working 6-7 days/week. Volunteer at an Animal Shelter too.

Mid career burnout is a real thing and after working in corporate for 10+ years, I totally understand why some people quit and go work as a barista

@themoviedadsc Same. 🎯 The thought of getting let go after 50 without a nest egg has been the main thing driving me towards financial independence since 27. Absolute nightmare.

One of my biggest financial fears that helped guide my money habits was getting fired late-career when income & lifestyle expectations peak. Big reason why we bought a modest home and paid off cars fast (so we can invest a ton). NEVER going to be trapped in this nightmare.

"Sheryl Cowan, 57, was making $272,000 a year as a senior VP at a U.S.A.I.D.-funded nonprofit when she was let go at the end of March 2025. Last month she had an online interview for a $19-an-hour job managing a Penzeys Spices store in Falls Church, Va." nytimes.com/2026/04/21/us/…

@trevor_abroad I’ve never consistently taken any prescriptions meds. Grateful. In the back of my head I was always suspicious. “So I take this and then what? For how long?” Anything with no end date, is never a solution. It’s just a new problem. A new normal. Satanic.

Anyone who makes an effort to get off SSRI’s deserves support. Scourge of a generation. They’re often convinced they will be on them for life, that a life without them is impossible. It’s absolutely evil how over medicated our country has become.

This is a great modern example of young men escaping feelings of inadequacy by seeking externalities. You find this in the corporate world, business, real life relationships. You can try to hide or Chase ‘gold’ fixes in life. None of it heals the code (internal narrative) that runs inner belief systems. Looksmaxxer’s would benefit more from a psychedelic induced ego death forcing them to confront these beliefs. Than to just chase a new mask for the next charade in their life. It all comes down to uncovering the real causes of fear, guilt and shame. The sooner you uncover these internal narratives - you grow into something else entirely. Authenticity, Peace, and Self-actualization occurs.
Mark Manson@Markmanson

What the Looksmaxxers don't get: you can have the most perfect proportions and features in the world, but 90% of "mogging" comes down to how you feel about yourself. An average-looking, highly confident dude will always "mog" the shit out of an anxious/insecure adonis. See:

I’d like to ask you all for a favor tonight. Earlier today I learned my Auntie from Portugal had a stroke, and now is in a coma getting emergency surgery. It’s not looking good. My wife and I are taking a last second flight to get out there. As some of you may know, my father passed away unexpectedly earlier this year, and my mom from cancer 11 years ago. My auntie was a second mother to me. And the one person who didn’t make me feel like an orphan the past few months. If she doesn’t make it, all I ask is to pray she’s not in pain and makes it to heaven with the rest of my ancestors. Please pray with me. Life is precious. Tell the people close to you that you love them while you can.

@tyler_abbate Ohh, for sure (in regards to anything can become a cult if you let it). And the vocal minority on here (and on the news) likely make these cults seem larger than they actually are.

Bitcoin discourse is so divisive because for its most loyal supporters, it morphed into a pseudo financial religion. To them, it's no longer just a financial asset but a piece of their identity and worldview. Bitcoin is now psychological. Therefore, discourse got more personal.

Catching up with the older lifters at the gym who you've been fist bumping and small chatting with between sets for years, yet neither of you know each others actual name and just refer to each other as "big man" or "champ" >>>>>>>>>

@themoviedadsc Richmond here. They hyped it as the biggest storm since the Blizzard of 96 basically. A few inches at most. Massive let down.

Woke up, and we (Northern VA) seem to have gotten the under for snow. Maybe 4 inches, and it's now all freezing rain. Nowhere near the monster of a storm (for our area) that's been getting hyped for the last few days.
