I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Major General B. C. Khanduri (Retd.). With his demise, the nation has lost a distinguished soldier, an able administrator and a statesman of rare integrity. His visionary contribution towards transforming India’s road infrastructure through the Golden Quadrilateral and the National Highways Development Programme will remain a landmark in the country’s development journey. I was fortunate to meet him during my recent visit to Dehradun, we fondly reminisced about our association as former colleagues in the Lok Sabha. I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, his countless admirers and the people of Uttarakhand in this hour of grief.

Since the conflict began, the Modi Government has taken several proactive measures to safeguard India’s economic stability and protect the interests of citizens. Continuous monitoring of crude oil prices and global supply chains is being undertaken to minimise the impact on fuel availability and inflation. The Government has strengthened strategic petroleum reserves, intensified diplomatic engagement with friendly nations to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies, and closely coordinated with industry and financial institutions to maintain market stability. The Government has also focused on protecting essential commodity supplies, controlling inflationary pressures, and ensuring that there is no disruption in critical sectors such as transport, fertilisers, food supply, and energy. Indian missions abroad are actively working for the safety and welfare of Indian citizens in the affected regions, while emergency preparedness mechanisms have been further strengthened. Prime Minister Modi Ji has appealed to the people of the country to adopt seven important measures in the spirit of national responsibility and collective participation: 1. Prioritize Work From Home wherever possible to save energy and reduce unnecessary travel. 2. Reduce fuel consumption by cutting down avoidable petrol and diesel usage. 3. Use metro and public transport instead of relying excessively on private vehicles. 4. Limit cooking oil consumption to reduce pressure on imports. 5. Adopt natural farming practices and promote sustainable agriculture. 6. Support Swadeshi and locally made products to strengthen Aatmanirbhar Bharat. 7. Avoid unnecessary foreign travel and excessive gold purchases for one year in the national interest. These appeals are not merely precautionary steps, but a roadmap for national resilience during a sensitive global situation. India has always emerged stronger whenever citizens stood united with discipline and patriotism. In a major pro-farmer decision, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Shri @narendramodi, has approved a Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of ₹365 per quintal for sugarcane for the 2026–27 sugar season. This farmer-centric move ensures higher earnings with a premium of ₹3.56 per quintal for every 0.1% increase in recovery above 10.25%, directly rewarding productivity and efficiency. Importantly, safeguarding the interests of every Ganna Kisan, the government has ensured no deduction for mills with recovery below 9.5%, guaranteeing a minimum of ₹338.3 per quintal. This bold and compassionate decision reflects the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to farmer welfare, income security, and rural prosperity—empowering sugarcane farmers and strengthening the backbone of India’s agricultural economy. 🇮🇳
