Which stage at Pinewood?
It's the 007 Stage, the largest in Europe and "50 years old". Built for The Spy Who Loved Me in 1976.
It burnt down while filming Legend but in true Ship of Theseus style, it was rebuilt and dubbed the Albert R. Broccoli 007 Stage. Then used for A View to a Kill in 1985.
Another fire happened after Casino Royale finished and it got demolished and rebuilt AGAIN and is now 59,000 square feet.
THEN it was used for No Time to Die.

I fit a practical mini-projector and video processor inside this prop, and projected the Petrova line sequence onto medium density rear projection film on the lens. This way we could get the entire practical effect in-camera, and get that beautiful light across RG’s face.

프로젝트 헤일메리에서 페트로바선 적외선을 관측하는 ‘페트로바스코프’의 디자인. 마치 SLR 렌즈의 뒷면을 들여다보는 느낌을 주면 좋겠다고 생각해, 카메라 렌즈 특유의 기계적 디테일과 아날로그적인 조작 디테일(ex: 질감이 살아있는 널링, 조리개 값, 초점 조절 링 등)을 결합했다고 한다.

@GentleDoofus I feel similarly about old manual rotoscopes for tv/screen comps. Tonnes of them in Columbo. Rather charming.

One thing I love about pristine restorations of classic films like these are the moments where the footage looks a little worse because it has optically printed titles or dissolves between scenes. They foreground the physical processes that went into classic filmmaking.

Watching the new 4K of BEN-HUR, which looks extraordinary. I’d forgotten that the movie spends about 20 minutes giving you all the grandeur and Biblical myth before giving you some of the most homoerotic male bonding of all time.
