Anyone have a recommendation for a good sports medicine physician to see for back pain that is based in Montgomery County, MD?

@chasedcsports Our bench got outscored 48-5 by the Celtics in Game 7 of the 2017 Eastern Conference Semifinals. We lost by 10 points.

@JaneAFlegal Altho, I suppose if your definition of “clean generation” includes DER and DR solutions, I’m behind the claim. But the elephant in the room seems to be performance-based regulation

@JaneAFlegal Depends- are we talking wholesale prices or retail prices? It’s true that clean electricity would be an improvement over natural gas volatility, but I’m concerned that associated transmission capex would be a bigger driver of structural rate hikes in the long term.

A thing I'm increasingly convinced of is that the dominant driver of both electricity prices & emissions is the volume of clean generation that gets built, not what fills short-run capacity gaps. We gotta add more clean, cheap electrons to the grid.

@MattModderno Couldn’t agree more. Dawkins and Winger preached not skipping steps and building a sustainable contender. Assets and flexibility are key here. Also, ‘14 and ‘17 were my favorite years (will never forgive Olynyk).

Maybe an unpopular opinion given how incredible Giannis is, & how non-guaranteed winning is, but I would rather grow with this young core & see what they can do Still the most fun I've had as a Wizards fan was watching Gil/Larry/Antawn/Brendan/Etan in the '05 playoffs. '14 too

Washington’s potential trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo: Anthony Davis Tre Johnson Bub Carrington 2027 first-round pick (via WAS) 2029 first-round pick (second most favorable of POR/BOS/MIL) The Wizards have been floated as a potential suitor for the Bucks superstar.

The CMIP6 models being reevaluated based on new data is…just how science works. All it means is that the high emissions trends modeled in RCP8.5 aren’t likely to manifest- principally due to the deployment of clean energy! This is a good signal, more work is needed
molly taft@mollytaft

i think it is very cool and very great news that rcp 8.5 is probably now implausible. some folks on here using it as some sort of gotcha against "alarmism" is really weird to me

@Noahpinion Really seems like heat pumps address this issue. Esp since production capacity has expanded, installers have been trained, supply chains have been built in Germany and other countries

Economists estimate that if Europeans used AC as much as Americans do, it would save up to 100,000 European lives EVERY YEAR. But I guess saving face on Elon Musk's social media app is more important than 100,000 lives.

How can someone who markets himself as some kind of intellectual, with over half a million followers on here, post this same old silly misinformed take that gets posted a million times every summer

@ExistentialEnso Sure, let’s adjust the claim to “if I had [unlimited access to collateralized loans at favorable rates] I would just start fixing everything.” While they may not have $200B liquid, certainly they can certainly borrow up to 10s of billions in cash via securities-based lending.

Not saying extreme wealth inequality is good, but a lot of this makes more sense when you properly internalize they don’t really have “billions of dollars” They have equity in companies that are valuable and pursue those companies’ business interests
daz@MetamateDaz

I genuinely don't understand people like Bezos and Musk. If I had billions of dollars, I would just start fixing everything. Homeless veterans sleeping on the streets? Not on my watch. Hungry children going to bed with empty stomachs? Hell no. They could be making life better but instead choose to build spaceships and data centers to pump stocks and destroy the planet

A NEW TWIST in Africa's soaring solar story: It's now manufacturing its own panels. The factories use imported Chinese cells, which are 40% of the value of panels, keeping much of the value domestically. 9 GW of cells+wafers in Mar/Apr alone🧵

During this rebuild, I think the Wiz have accumulated better young wings (Bilal/Ky/Riley/JC/Cam/Watkins) than they have young guards (Tre/Bub). As a result, if both prospects were equal, seems like DP would be more of a need/better fit than AJ.

@suchnerve I think they’ll end up being a weather-adapted complement to LFPs, which isn’t a knock on Na-ions at all - that difference really does matter in grid operators’ reliability forecasts and capacity market constructs. But on energy density and lifecycle, LFP is the superior tech.

Sodium-ion batteries are, all by themselves, the reason for my shift in opinion from “We should keep building new nuclear fission power plants to cope with renewables’ intermittency” to “We should broadly deploy grid-scale batteries to enable 100% renewable energy sourcing”

@NiyerEnergy Agreed. Without significant additions of storage or a clean firm support, stable cash flows won’t materialize to stimulate private investment in renewable assets.

Renewables biggest barrier is not the capacity market. The energy market is a far bigger obstacle. Until the renewables-heads understand this, they are gonna hit a much lower ceiling than system optimization would suggest.

The US grid, mapped. Public data for public use. 16,819 power plants and 36,872 generators from EIA. 750,000+ transmission circuit-miles from HIFLD. 1,000+ data centers from EPA and other open sources.

I love this move. Dawkins and Winger swinging for the fences! The 2 FRPs are of minimal value, and if we allow AD to rehab, I'm hopeful for a healthy return next season and a lottery pick in this years draft. Onwards and upwards!

Compelling chart from @ember_energy on India's electrification curve compared to China. Whereas China is poised to be the world's first 'electrostate', India won't be far behind. This may reduce long term oil demand, especially in road transport.
