Sara and I were shocked by the attempted assassination of President @realDonaldTrump last night in Washington, DC. We are relieved that the President and the First Lady are safe and strong. We send our wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the wounded police officer and salute the US Secret Service for their swift and decisive action.

If you’d told me a few years ago this is where we’d be on Iran, I’d have said you were high: 1. Nuke program set back years. Enrichment and reprocessing gutted, weaponization sites destroyed, Fordow inoperable, Natanz in ruins, a generation of senior nuclear scientists eliminated. 2. Ballistic missile program crippled. Monthly production down from 100 to near zero. Roughly half the regime’s missiles and launchers destroyed. The IRGC Aerospace Force commander who ran the missile enterprise dead. 3. Air defenses devastated. American and Israeli airpower dominating Iranian skies, with strike aircraft operating over the country with near impunity. 4. Full economic warfare. Not just OFAC sanctions anymore, but military pressure layered on top: naval blockade, near-zero oil exports, choked imports, wrecked steel and petrochemical sectors, triple-digit inflation, and a currency that is effectively worthless. 5. Regime decapitation. Khamenei dead. Larijani dead. Hundreds of senior IRGC, intelligence, military, and Basij commanders dead including the IRGC commander-in-chief, the armed forces chief of staff, and the Aerospace Force commander. Mojtaba Khamenei inheriting a hollowed-out regime with no supreme authority and a gutted command structure. 6. The region turning on Tehran. Gulf states shutting down the sanctions-busting, money-laundering, and financial escape routes the regime has relied on for years. No Arab capital willing to throw Iran a lifeline. China and Russia providing limited support. 7. Proxy network shattered. Hezbollah and Hamas heavily degraded. Houthi political leadership taking direct Israeli strikes. The “Axis of Resistance” and “ring of fire” are now more slogans than real threats. 8. Syrian corridor severed. Assad is gone. The new government in Damascus is actively blocking Iranian arms transfers to Hezbollah: arresting smugglers and publicly declaring Syria will no longer serve as a transit corridor for Tehran’s terrorists. The land bridge to the Mediterranean that took decades to build is effectively closed. 9. Lebanon pivoting west. With Hezbollah battered and resupply choked, Israel and Lebanon have opened direct peace talks for the first time since 1983, aimed at a permanent agreement and Hezbollah’s disarmament. Beirut now asserting that the Lebanese armed forces alone are responsible for national defense. This is a direct repudiation of Hezbollah’s “resistance” claim. TBD. 10. Deterrence exposed as a bluff. Four direct attacks on Israel — April 2024, October 2024, June 2025, March 2026 — failed to impose strategic cost and instead triggered heavy retaliation. Iran couldn’t even use Syria as a launchpad. 11.Economy hollowed out from within. Power shortages, water crises, factory shutdowns, pension unrest, and mass protests. Nationwide demonstrations erupted in December 2025 after a year of economic freefall, with bazaaris, oil workers, and truckers, the regime’s traditional support base, joining strikes across all 31 provinces. Running out of oil storage space. Fuel shortages. The worst crisis since 1979. 12. Scientific and technical brain drain. Beyond the nuclear experts, Iran has lost a generation of irreplaceable expertise in missile design, centrifuge engineering, and weapons development. The survivors are harder to recruit and easier to deter. 13. Naval power decimated. The regular navy shattered, IRGC navy taking growing losses as CENTCOM moves to reopen Hormuz. And against all of this: the regime forced to play its Hormuz card at its weakest possible moment when the U.S. has options instead of when we didn’t: namely, Tehran with nuclear-armed ICBMs, 10,000 ballistic missiles, a Chinese- and Russian-built military, hundreds of thousands of attack drones, a fully operational terror network, and hundreds of billions of dollars to harden its economy. That’s the strategic picture. It’s extraordinary. Much more to do but I can’t comprehend how much has been achieved.

היום התפרסם הדו״ח הרפואי השנתי שלי.  ביקשתי לעכב את פרסומו בחודשיים כדי שהוא לא יפורסם בשיא המלחמה על מנת שלא לאפשר למשטר הטרור באיראן להפיץ עוד תעמולת כזב נגד ישראל.  אני מבקש לשתף אתכם בשלושה דברים: 1 - ברוך השם, אני בריא. 2 - אני בכושר גופני מצויין. 3 - הייתה לי בעיה רפואית קטנה בערמונית שטופלה לחלוטין. תודה לאל, זה מאחוריי. לפני שנה וחצי עברתי ניתוח מוצלח בערמונית שפירה מוגדלת ומאז אני במעקב רפואי שגרתי.  במעקב האחרון התגלה כתם קטנטן של פחות מסנטימטר בערמונית.  בבדיקה התברר שמדובר בשלב מוקדם מאוד של גידול ממאיר, ללא שום התפשטות או גרורות.  הרופאים אמרו לי שזה מאוד שכיח אצל בני גילי, ושיש שתי אפשרויות: 1 - לא חייבים לטפל בזה, ניתן להישאר במעקב בלבד. אפשר לחיות עם זה, ורבים עושים זאת.  2 - לעבור טיפול ולהסיר את הבעיה. אתם כבר מכירים אותי. כשמעבירים לי מידע בזמן על סכנה אפשרית, אני רוצה לטפל בה מייד.  זה נכון ברמה הלאומית וגם ברמה האישית. זה מה שעשיתי. עברתי טיפול ממוקד שהסיר את הבעיה ולא השאיר לה זכר. הגעתי לכמה טיפולים קצרים, קראתי ספר, והמשכתי לעבוד. הכתם נעלם לחלוטין.  ברוך השם ניצחתי גם את זה. אני מבקש להודות לרופאים ולצוותים הרפואיים הנפלאים של בית החולים ״הדסה״ בירושלים.  מכם, אזרחי ישראל, יש לי רק בקשה אחת: שימרו על הבריאות שלכם. היבדקו, והישמעו להנחיות הרופאים. ומכאן, ערב שבת, אני מתפלל לשלום פצועינו בגוף ובנפש, ושולח להם חיבוק חם ורפואה שלמה בשמכם. שבת שלום.

הזמן חולף. הכאב אינו חולף אף פעם.

ביום הזיכרון לחללי מערכות ישראל, כמו בשנים קודמות, אני מניח תפילין לזכרו של אחד מגיבורינו שנפלו למען תקומתנו וחירותנו. גם השנה נפגשתי עם שליח הרבי, הרב אור זיו, שהביא עימו את התפילין. בכל פעם של לוחם אחר, של בן אהוב, של גיבור ישראל. בכל שנה, סיפור אחר. לב אחר. עולם ומלואו. השנה זכיתי להניח את התפילין של גיבורינו שון כרמלי ז״ל. שון, לוחם בודד שהגיע מארצות הברית כדי להגן על מדינת ישראל, בחר לקשור את גורלו בגורל עמנו. מתוך אמונה עמוקה, מתוך שליחות. הוא נפל בקרב בעזה – אך רוחו ממשיכה לחיות בנו, בלב האומה. כשאני מניח את התפילין שלו, אני חש את הקשר העמוק בין הדורות. בין מסורת של אלפי שנים לבין הגבורה של ימינו. בין תפילה חרישית לבין מעשה של מסירות נפש שאין למעלה ממנו. ברגע הזה, עם הרצועות הנכרכות על היד והלב, אני נושא תפילה שקטה לזכרו, לזכר כל חללינו, ולמען עתיד עמנו בארץ הזו. ״וְרָאוּ כָּל־עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ כִּי שֵׁם השם נִקְרָא עָלֶיךָ וְיָרְאוּ מִמֶּךָּ״ ** יהי זכר חללינו ברוך ונצור בליבנו לעד. צילום: מעיין טואף, לע״מ

יוני היה אחי המופלא.  כוכב הצפון שלי שעזר לי לנתב את דרכי בנפתולי החיים. הוא שימש לי ולאחי עדו דוגמה ומופת והעניק לנו תמיכה ועצה בצמתים רבים.  כבר מגיל צעיר היה בו שילוב נדיר של שקט פנימי, נחישות ותחושת ייעוד ברורה. הוא ידע תמיד לאן הוא הולך, ומה נדרש ממנו. כל חייה נאבקת מדינת ישראל על עצם קיומה. כל עוד יוני היה בחיים, הייתי משוכנע שהוא יהיה שם בחזית, בהנהגה, במקום שיסייע להבטיח את עתידה. כשנודע לי שיוני נפל ב׳מבצע יונתן׳ לשחרור חטופינו, הרגשתי שחיי הגיעו לקיצם.  זה לא היה רק אובדן של אח אהוב.  זה היה אובדן של עוגן.  הייתי בטוח שלעולם לא אתאושש. אבל עם הזמן הבנתי שהמורשת של יוני לא הסתיימה עם נפילתו.  להפך.  דורות של צעירים קראו את ספר מכתביו, דורות של לוחמים שאבו השראה מערכיו.  יוני לא השאיר אחריו רק זיכרון של גבורה. הוא השאיר לנו דרך.  מתוך עומק היגון צמחה בי תחושת שליחות עמוקה.  ההקרבה של יוני דחפה אותי קדימה אל העשייה הציבורית. כראש ממשלת ישראל בימים אלה של מלחמה קיומית, כשאני שולח את חיילינו אל הקרבות ואת טייסנו אל איראן, אני רואה כל אחד ואחת מהם כאילו היה אחי. אני זוכר את ההורים שלי, ואני חושב על ההורים שלהם.  אני יודע מה מונח על הכף.  אני יודע מה המשמעות של כל החלטה.  אני שומר על לוחמינו, והם שומרים עלינו. אני מתגעגע אליך יוני, אחי האהוב.  אתה חסר לי עד מאוד.

האמת היא, שהפצע עמוק מן הזמן.  הזמן חולף אך אינו משכיח את רגע הבשורה שאין מרה ממנה - על כך שאהובי נפשנו אינם עוד בחיים.  כך הרגשתם אתם - בכל בית ומשפחה. כך הרגשנו אנחנו -  הוריי, אני ואחי הצעיר עידו, בנפול אחי יוני ז''ל. הגעגוע נוכח יום-יום, הידיים רוצות שוב לחבק.  העיניים – לראות את החיוך.  האוזניים – לשמוע את הקול, קולו של יקירנו.

As the Jewish state, Israel cherishes and upholds the Jewish values of tolerance and mutual respect between Jews and worshippers of all faiths. All religions flourish in our land and we view members of all faiths as equals in building our society and region. Yesterday, like the overwhelming majority of Israelis, I was stunned and saddened to learn that an IDF soldier damaged a Catholic religious icon in southern Lebanon. I condemn the act in the strongest terms. Military authorities are conducting a criminal probe of the matter and will take appropriately harsh disciplinary action against the offender. While Christians are being slaughtered in Syria and Lebanon by Muslims, the Christian population in Israel thrives unlike elsewhere in the Middle East. Israel is the only country in the region that the Christian population and standard of living is growing. Israel is the only place in the Middle East that adheres to freedom of worship for all. We express regret for the incident and for any hurt this has caused to believers in Lebanon and around the world.
