This man lost his job and started selling chicken rice and BBQ meat. That was 15 years ago. His first customers still come back today. His name is Lee Tart Mum or people call him Mr Lee. He was born in Penang, grew up in Thailand and eventually settled in Kuala Lumpur. For years, he worked as a clerk. He was the everything man… handled whatever needed handling, spoke English well, kept things running. Then the company downsized. They gave him one extra month’s salary and wished him well. He spent a year looking for work. Nothing came. So in 2011, he made a decision. He would start a chicken rice and BBQ meat (non-halal) business. He didn’t go to culinary school. There was no family recipe to follow. Just a man who decided to figure it out. He chose charcoal. It’s slower and harder to do (and charcoal is expensive now). But the taste is different and he knew it. He experimented. Adjusted. Got better over time. His stall has a 4.8 rating on Google. Customers who first came in 2011 still come today. Even during the pandemic, people kept ordering. I asked him when he plans to retire. He said he won’t. Not yet. Because he still wants to serve his customers, even at 61. His wife asked him the same thing. Same answer. Mr Lee shared with me three lessons: 1. Always try and experiment. 2. Never give up even when things get really hard. 3. And always try to be better because there’s always someone out there who’s smarter than you. He doesn’t need a Michelin Star. His customers already know where to find him. DIAYAM Sis sedikit busy tengokkan anak mohon biasiswa. Tapi ternampak dalam media sosial banyak aktiviti pajakan otak. Kita tak kisah sgt nak hentam nak kritik Kerajaan. Kita pun buat. Tapi janganlah diayam2kan rakyat sangat. “Kerajaan zalim, naikkan harga minyak punya banyak” Nararif yang diulam2. TAPI NAIKNYA DI MANA SEBENARNYA? Rakyat Malaysia masih lagi bayar RM1.99 untuk Ron95, 200 litre sebulan. Kalau guna lebih, bayar harga pasaran. Harga pasaran ni pun antara terendah di Asean. Diesel pula industri rentan masih disubsidi. Pengangkutan awam, angkut barang dan petani. Harga tetap rendah. Malah Rakyat yang guna kereta diesel masih boleh dapat bantuan Kerajaan. RM300 sebulan. Cuma mereka yang yang bergaji T20 (RM100k+ setahun) dan guna Ron97 yang tak dapat subsidi. Akan terkesan dengan kenaikan ini. Itu nak hentam dan kritik silakan. Cadangkan lah naikkan level T20 ke apa. RM200k pulak ke? Naikkan bantuan bulanan ke? Baru la betul dan afdal. Ni ada propagandis dan politikus, propaganda pun biarlah ikut data dan fakta sebenar. Ni sembang macam minyak naik untuk Rakyat seluruh Malaysia. Walhal harga dan bekalan minyak kıta masih lagi terjaga. Penganalisis ekonomi juga melihat Malaysia antara yang paling berdaya tahan di Asia. Yang penyokong Kerajaan pun jangan lah ambil semua kredit. Seolah2 sebab PMX seorang. Sistem tahanan ni jadi baik sebab polisi ekonomi kita terjaga dari dulu, Petronas kita steady tak melingkup dan Penjawat awam kita bekerja. Mereka laksanakan mana baik untuk negara. Credit goes to all of them. Not just the political master. Untuk pengundi, pesan kita. PRU nak dekat. Akan banyak propaganda di luar sana. Paling penting kita dapatkan the bigger picture. Bukan half truths semata. Jangan pajak otak pada sesiapa. Termasuk pada saya. Sendiri semak jua. Yang bahaya bukan harga minyak. Yang bahaya bila rakyat percaya benda yang tak benar. I borrowed 50k from Dad and 50k from Mum to buy a laptop that costs 97k. After the purchase, I had 3k left. I returned 1k to Dad and 1k to Mum, and I reserved 1k for myself. I now owe Dad 49k and Mum 49k also. 49k + 49k = 98k plus 1k I reserved for myself, which is 99k. So where did 1k go..?
