also the fun thing about fanfic is you get to indulge in all the over the top bits of plot/emotion/prose. fanfic has a different style to published works, it’s meant to be a bit overblown & slightly unbelievable & very entertaining & a touch overwritten! some people just hate fun

i don’t understand this current discourse of fanfic prose and purple prose, and fanfic writing being substandard compared to published fiction, because they’re two different things. fic writers usually don’t have beta or alpha readers to help with things like that, nor editors
