Big announcement 🚀 NodeSource joins the @openjsf Foundation’s LTS Upgrade & Modernization program. Too many enterprises are still running legacy or EOL Node.js versions, creating real security and compliance risk. We’re changing that with a secure, AI-powered upgrade path: Scan → Analyze → Execute. And as inaugural partner, we’re sharing 15% of program revenue to support the @nodejs ecosystem. Debugging shouldn’t feel like detective work. But today it does. • Logs in one place • Metrics in another • Traces somewhere else And the real context? Missing. We didn’t fix debugging. We just built more dashboards. That ends at #WebSummitVancouver 🇨🇦 Something new is coming. 👀

There are 4 very common bugs in Node.js apps 🐛 1. Unexpected shared state 2. Retries that make things worse 3. Poorly handled timeouts 4. Lack of visibility across services They can be avoided — if you treat them as architecture problems, not just code issues: • Isolate state (stateless + idempotency) • Use backoff + circuit breakers for retries • Define explicit timeouts at every layer (not defaults) • Invest in real observability (tracing + metrics + profiling) It’s not magic — it’s system design. Have you hit any of these before? Read more: dev.to/sirelves/the-4… 🚀

Sourcemaps now work in production — automatically in N|Solid 🎉 No more missing files. No more broken stack traces. We just published how N|Solid retrieves sourcemaps from your CDN or S3 and connects errors to real code — instantly. → Real stack traces → Faster debugging → Zero manual uploads Read it here 👇🏼 nodesource.com/blog/automatic…

AI is generating code faster than we can debug it. And that’s becoming a production problem. We optimized for speed of creation. Not for speed of understanding. AI writes code in seconds. Debugging still takes hours. The bottleneck has changed: → It’s understanding what’s running → In systems you didn’t fully write What breaks in production: • Hidden performance issues • Unpredictable runtime behavior • Dependency blind spots → Visibility hasn’t caught up We don’t need faster code generation. We need faster feedback loops between code and runtime. In real time. Without context switching. If AI is writing more of your code… Then understanding your runtime is the new engineering advantage. Something new is coming.

JavaScript streams are evolving 🌱🙌🏼 Not because they’re broken — but because they can be better. A new direction is taking shape around async iteration, simpler models, and more intuitive data flow. Here’s what’s happening — and why it matters 👇🏼 #Nodejs #JavaScript #Backend nodesource.com/blog/better-st…

Node.js Collaboration Summit (London, April 14–15) just wrapped up 🇬🇧 Our team was there — @_rafaelgss @kom_256 @s_gimeno @edsadr — part of the conversations shaping what’s next for Node.js. One hot topic 🔥: → moving security reports to a more public workflow If AI can rediscover issues instantly… are they really “private”? What do you think should be discussed more openly in @nodejs? Running legacy Node.js in production is like driving a vintage car every day 🚗 Impressive… but expensive, fragile, and risky. • Slower performance → higher infra costs • Dependency chaos → harder to maintain • No security updates after EOL • Potential compliance issues This isn’t just tech debt — it compounds over time. First release candidate of Node.js v26 kicked off. #issuecomment-4244391972" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/nodejs/node/pu… It's not ready yet, as the AIX building is still being fixed for the V8 14.6 update.

Getting a backend job in 2026 isn’t about coding more. It’s about understanding systems in production. • Learn how systems behave (latency, failures, bottlenecks) • Observability is a must (logs, metrics, traces) • Go beyond dashboards → understand the runtime (event loop, CPU, memory, GC) • AI is changing the role → from debugging to optimization • Telemetry > tools → concepts last longer • Performance = real user impact The engineers who stand out won’t just build systems. They’ll understand and improve them. #Nodejs #Backend #SoftwareEngineering #Observability #AI
