Well-deserved recognition for our maternity care at UTMB. U.S. News & World Report has named @utmbhealth a 2025 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care. The award is the highest a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care annual study, which rates hospitals that provide labor and delivery services and submit detailed data to the publication for analysis. Best Hospitals for Maternity Care assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity services that best meet their family’s needs. Congratulations to Pharmacology & Toxicology PhD student Akanksha Gurtu on being selected by the Biophysical Society for a travel award to attend the upcoming 69th annual Biophysical Society meeting. Ankanksha will be presenting her work on characterizing the GSK/Nav1.6 protein-protein interaction complex.

County Seniors have been spreading Christmas cheer by participating in a Blanket Drive and Pet Food Supply drive for Galveston County Meals on Wheels. They collected items at all three centers that were donated to the Meals on Wheels program to help homebound Seniors this Holiday
