Grateful to PM Sh @NarendraModi for his constant patronage and support. The attaining of criticality by the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam marks a historic milestone in India’s nuclear journey, which had begun with a grand dream by the founding father Homi Bhabha. This also reflects the tireless dedication and commitment of the entire fraternity in its endeavour to achieve Energy Security with self-reliance. #DAE
Narendra Modi@narendramodi

Today, India takes a defining step in its civil nuclear journey, advancing the second stage of its nuclear programme. The indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam has attained criticality. This advanced reactor, capable of producing more fuel than it consumes, reflects the depth of our scientific capability and the strength of our engineering enterprise. It is a decisive step towards harnessing our vast thorium reserves in the third stage of the programme. A proud moment for India. Congratulations to our scientists and engineers.

Research That Matters! Watch Shahnawaz Hussain, PhD scholar at CSIR-IIIM Jammu, explain his research on UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) from Glycyrrhiza glabra. Using in-silico analysis, molecular docking, qRT-PCR–based gene expression studies under different stress conditions, and in-vitro enzymatic assays with purified recombinant proteins, his work decodes how specific UGTs function at the molecular level. The study reveals that UGT72L11 glycosylates flavonoid compounds and plays a key role in enhancing cold stress tolerance in plants, with its promoter showing high activity under cold conditions. Another enzyme, UGT72Z7, was found to glycosylate azadirachtin, confirmed through LC–MS analysis—marking the first report of a UGT capable of modifying this important biopesticide. By improving azadirachtin’s solubility, stability, and half-life, this research opens new pathways for sustainable biopesticide formulations and greener agricultural practices through molecular biology. #FromLadakhToTheLab #ResearchThatMatters #CSIRIIIM #PhDResearch #MolecularBiology #PlantScience #UGTGenes #Glycosyltransferase #GlycyrrhizaGlabra #NeemResearch #Azadirachtin #Biopesticide #SustainableAgriculture #GreenAgriculture #ColdStressTolerance #PlantStressBiology #qRTPCR #LCMS #BioInnovation
