An IRS officer and his family considered their third-floor flat in Kailash Hills, Delhi, well secured, describing a "strong" system that included a digital lock on the main door, a steel gate at the staircase entry, and a separate door outside the lift. The steel gate needed a smart card, and the staircase door stayed latched from inside. And yet serial rpist and murderer Rahul Meena entered the house, rped their daughter and murdered her. This happened because not all the security in the world can protect you and your family if you are an amateur and allow outsiders free access to your house. Police said the IRS officer and his wife usually left for the gym in the morning and tried not to disturb their daughter's sleep. "There was no way to enter via the staircase as it was latched from inside. During initial questioning, another officer said the rape-murder-robbery may also relate to "revenge or a grudge he was holding against the family for letting him go." Dear people, do not allow drivers and maids access to your home. One of them could be a Rahul Meena. Some maids and drivers may act as spotters for their criminal boyfriends and husbands. Please understand that there is a huge mismatch here. When a slum dweller driver or maid enters your home, they are often startled by the luxurious interiors that indicate money. When otherwise normal people land in hard times, they rationalise theft, rpe and murder to get your money and save their own situation. Allowing a non family member access to your home is the equivalent of not having a front door key at all. It becomes an invitation to crime.
