@farmingandJesus You're on a farm, why wouldn't people come to your door. You have fresh food and animals.

Why do you come to my door then? I tell them I am a believer in Jesus and they still try convert me. Why if we’re both Christians? You are the door knockers who can’t answer theological questions honestly. I don’t try to convert my parents to Baptist because they are Presbyterian. We’re under the same savior, the same umbrella. We’re Christians. You try to convert actual Christians to Mormonism , which isn’t Christian.

I have an idea: I will stay a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints And you can stay a member of some sect of Creedal Christianity And we'll let Christ decide who was more aligned with eternal truth. No need to debate anymore. How does that sound?

@MatthewBockholt Hope for what? And hoping suggests there's a desire for something lacking, doesn't it?

@busy_bee_me I agree, the first step into faith is desire. Then, desire for what?

@Kintsugijin I still think desire is the first step. It is something we do, not something we realize exists.

I hate my timeline right now. Mormons are Christian. Christianity means discipleship of Jesus Christ. If your definition excludes people who worship Christ, covenant with Christ, preach Christ, and try to follow Christ, then your definition is broken. At that point, you’re not defending Christianity. You’re guarding a social club label. The question isn’t whether LDS are Christian. The question is why some people are so desperate to make Christ smaller than their own gatekeeping. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@busy_bee_me Interesting. So would the first step be awareness of that missing part? That missing God shaped hole? Might explain why so many just fill it with trash or replace it with themselves, over understanding the divine nature of its shape.

@Kintsugijin I don’t think so. I think we can know something is missing without knowing what it is.

@busy_bee_me Wouldn't we have to be aware of something to desire it, and that in itself suggests a level of knowing in order to desire it, wouldn't it?

@Kintsugijin Sorry that you seem incapable of dealing with reality. I’m sure your ego is hurt that you got taken by a cult but it’s not too late to repent and escape Mormonism.

I like Mormons. I think they're genuinely nice people. I just think they're dead wrong about theology. Still, salt of the Earth folk. Best heretics I know. Not historically, but as far as I've interacted with them... just don't go to Utah.

@Kintsugijin I need a short mental tagline for me/us. Let me know if I need improvement. maybe we just reply "be a peacemaker" to each other. it's reductive but it's the reminder i need. i have been struggling inside and maybe a no elaboration grugbrain paste is enough of a jolt.

Mormonism was based on the belief that the Apostles’ Creed is an abomination to God. Joseph Smith said this is what God told him. Yet they want to be called “Christian.” Come out of Mormonism and come to Jesus.

@Kintsugijin It's all hurting me spiritually. I want off the ship. We're not making a difference. They've chained themselves to others. I will reserve my focus on people I follow or are mutuals. I will start from love first and last.

Despite being polytheistic fertility-cultists whose galactic headquarters is near Planet Kolob and their messianic Promised Land just an hour north of Kansas City, Mormons get the good press of being a notoriously polite, kind, and neighborly people with a low-crime, mutually respectful community with deep American values. That could be the fruit of their religion. Or… It could be the natural result of what happens in a homogenous, high-trust community which banned black people from full admission until the Carter Administration. But we’re not allowed to talk about that.
