𝗦𝗖𝗪𝗖 𝗤𝟮 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗻 | 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭 Before the luncheon began, SCWC’s Board of Directors gathered for the Coalition’s quarterly board meeting at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. The meeting focused on the work shaping SCWC’s direction moving forward, including strategic planning following the recent Board Retreat, updates from task forces across California’s water landscape, communications initiatives, and conversations surrounding infrastructure, affordability, recycled water, water quality, and long-term reliability. The Board also welcomed updates from California Water Commission member Sarah Lesmeister as discussions continued around the future of water policy and investment across the state. Strong organizations are built through collaboration, thoughtful discussion, and a shared commitment to the work ahead. More from the Q2 Luncheon coming soon.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻? Not in Sacramento or Washington, D.C. today. Today was spent with SCWC Founding Member Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, joining the conversation around the first 100 days of General Manager Shivaji Deshmukh’s leadership and the important issues ahead for MWD and the broader water community. The discussion focused on real decisions, major projects, affordability, reliability, and what it will take to move California’s water future forward. One thing was clear throughout the day: education and advocacy matter more than ever. Without facts, context, and informed discussion, it becomes much harder to make the right decisions. We appreciated the opportunity to listen, learn, and be part of today’s conversation. Thank you to MWD for the invitation!

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻? | 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆’𝘀 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀 Charley was back in Sacramento this week- where the conversations shaping California’s water future take center stage. From meetings inside the Capitol to in-depth discussions on camera, this trip was all about connection, education, and advocacy. Engaging with legislators. Breaking down the realities of water investment and infrastructure. Making sure the voice of water—and the people it impacts—is heard. Behind the scenes, the work continues. Conversations that don’t always make headlines, but move policy forward. Moments where collaboration turns into action. This is what it looks like to show up, speak up, and push for a more resilient and affordable water future for California. On behalf of SCWC, Charley is meeting with legislators to talk through key issues like investing in and rehabilitating the state water system, along with water rights. It’s about how we represent you, but just as important, how you stay engaged with your public officials and be part of the conversation. Back at it again tomorrow with more. And yes… it rained. Recycled water is one of the most important solutions shaping the future of water in California. Our latest video breaks down how advanced water purification turns recycled water into safe, reliable drinking water. It also explains why this approach is becoming essential as we face more extreme droughts and changing weather patterns. From microfiltration and reverse osmosis to UV treatment and continuous monitoring, this is a proven, multi-barrier process designed to meet and exceed strict water quality standards. It is not just about technology. It is about building a more resilient and sustainable water system. Recycled water helps reduce dependence on imported supplies, supports groundwater replenishment, and plays a key role in protecting our environment. That’s why it matters.

As we face ongoing challenges with supply, climate variability, and growing demand, diversifying where our water comes from is more important than ever. That’s where recycled water comes in. It allows us to take water we’ve already used, treat it, and put it back to work. Supporting communities, reducing strain on imported supplies, and strengthening long-term reliability. That’s why it matters. Today, we’re taking a closer look at recycled water and what it means for #CAWater. We’ll be sharing more throughout the day on how it works, where it’s being used, and why it plays such an important role in our water supply. Stay with us.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻? Today at the Tillman Wastewater Treatment Plant. Charley joined more than 200 attendees for an educational event highlighting the progress being made on this critical project. Mayor Karen Bass was also in attendance to see firsthand what this effort means for Los Angeles and the region. This is what progress looks like. Cranes in the air, construction underway, and a project beginning to take shape in a way that reflects what it will ultimately become. Even better, the project is moving forward under budget and is expected to double capacity. It’s a strong example of how investment, education, and collaboration come together to move water solutions forward. #SCWC #CAwater #WaterInfrastructure #WaterLeadership
