It really is remarkable how Ketanji Brown Jackson votes exclusively based on her political ideology with zero concern whatsoever for interpreting the laws and ruling on that basis. There’s no difference between having her or a random left wing influencer on the Supreme Court.
Jonathan Turley@JonathanTurley

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has issued another sole stinging dissent. In a 7-2 decision (with liberal justice Elena Kagan joining the majority), the Court upheld the authority of police to make a stop based on the totality of the circumstances...

The Housing Market is quietly dying as people simply run out of money. This isn't a temporary blip I'm afraid sweetheart, this is the end, it isn't coming back. There is no wealth being created to pay your price. The Nation's debt was leveraged by a bubble that's just popped.

Is this a windup? It’s a £500k investment. What do you think that buys you? Palantir are offering a single engineering job that pays up to like £600k+ without options or equity. Oh look at the “credentials” of Liz here who posted this flaccid drivelslop. Never had a job. What a fucking surprise. Many such cases.

@Prosper_UK_ God forbid we prevent British people becoming a hated minority in their only homeland. Think of what it will do to the GDP! Oh, that's not growing either? We're taxing entrepreneurs to spend billions on welfare for indolent foreigners? Well, we don’t have to listen to you, then.

The Anthony Bourdain episode where he comes to England just after Brexit and tries to make everything about the referendum is so funny, especially when he tries to shoehorn it in to meeting Marco Pierre White but Marco’s having none of it. Patriot.

The current state of short-term British politics is a good metaphor for its broader state. Despite everyone knowing that the PM has to go, no one will get rid of him & an uneasy deadlock continues, rooted in mutual interlocking incompetences and a perfect storm of lack of talent

It would be peak hypocrisy if the UK government went to great lengths to stop Valentina crossing the Channel or tried to apprehend her once she had crossed it in a boat. All it would do is expose the government as being perfectly capable of stopping illegal migrants when they want to, but of course choosing not to.

While it is hard to put a verifiable number on an unknown, the immigration problem persists and it's worse than anyone can possibly imagine. Now that the mass deportations have stopped (and we can argue whether or not they ever occurred in the first place), this will continue to be a problem for a while. Even on my maps alone, every single one of these yellow diamonds is a safehouse of an organization that openly states that they are working to help illegal immigration. Note the brazenness of this. I'm just one guy plotting these points in my spare time, and so far I've listed thousands of facilities which openly state on their own website that they are working to help illegals evade detection. Not even trying to hide it or state that "oh we're just a resettlement group that helps LEGAL immigrants after they get a greencard". Nope, none of that grey-area stuff that will have to go to court to confirm. I'm only plotting the groups that openly confess to crimes on their own website, and this is how many I have so far. If I start adding in the "immigrant support centers" which are more ambiguous, we're talking tens of thousands of locations. Note that on my maps, you will have to take the mailing address that I have listed for each location, and put it into google to find out what's at each location. I used to have a very neat explanation of all of the crimes that were being committed at each location, but I got a cease-and-desist letter from the law firms that are actively aiding criminals. Turns out that in America, criminals can sue you for exposing their crimes, so I've had to re-work a lot of my material. But this is what I have so far, and I've only just gotten started. Our time is short @SaraGonzalesTX . Mass deportations will correct this, worst of the worst won’t. If Plano, Texas, of all places, has this problem, then you can see how there are 100 million illegal aliens in our country. Commence mass deportations . @nicksortor

This is a misreading. It is not an obsession with trivia. For starters, this issue is not trivial, any more than it was trivial that Number Ten was setting lockdown rules while exempting itself. But even if it was trivia, this is the game. Journalists simply do not have the technical knowledge to focus on policy so they focus on politicians. Reporters simply cannot possess the level of subject specific expertise required to interrogate daily issues with any degree of sophistication, and can usually only deal with one issue at once. That's just how it is. Ultimately, media follows power, and like or or loathe it, the reporter's job is to report who said what to whom, what they said previously, and what they're saying now. From the noise comes debate, and from debate comes the facts. Right now it looks like the PM knowingly appointed a senior diplomat to our most important ally, knowing he consorted on an intimate level with human trafficking nonce - and then denied all knowledge of it, scapegoating his civil servants. There are major national security implications on top of the basic integrity question. Trivial it is not. If that is not the truth of this matter, then we need to get to the truth, because it still indicates a major failure of process even if the PMs hands are clean. The more fundamental matters of policy and economy (Net Zero etc) is the daily grind for MPs, specialists and politicos - debates on issues which all turn on arcane details beyond the capacity for normal people to understand. I mean, who among us actually understands labyrinthine energy market regulations and subsidy mechanisms? Even the people who know about it struggle to explain it - and counter the mass of lobbyist disinformation. As such, since you can't dislodge politicians on the basis of policy, you have to look to other means. If a PM or minister needs to be dispatched (and most of them do eventually) you go looking for skeletons in the closet. It sucks that it works this way, but this is the crucible of politics. The job, ultimately, is to weaken the government's reputation so you can take their place and implement your own solutions. The part of this system that's broken is that parties don't bother to invest in their own solutions, seldom bother with policy detail, thus take power only to tread water until they're also fighting for their political lives. This is how you get successive administrations that accomplish nothing. If you recall, the early Blair years were riddled with sleaze, but it was water off a duck's back for Teflon Tony, because at the end of the day, he was getting things done. "Nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying."
Konstantin Kisin@KonstantinKisin

It's amazing that the entire British media and political establishment will spend weeks obsessing over how exactly a paedophile's best friend was appointed by our government, while completely ignoring the fact that the government is destroying our economy through Net Zero, bankrupting the country through welfarism and punitive taxation and disarming the country by failing to fund the military despite repeated warnings from senior military figures. This obsession with trivia is partly human nature, of course. But it's also a dereliction of duty and a reflection of just how unserious our entire political class has become.

Just have to resign ourselves to the fact that Keir Starmer is going to resign. A more left wing ideolog will lead Labour. They will not extend ILR, but grant the 4 million Boriswavers full citizenship. In this future, no Right wing government will be elected in our lifetime.
Tom Harwood@tomhfh

Wow. Robbins reveals it wasn’t just Mandelson. Number 10 put “uncomfortable” pressure on Robbins to secretly find a golden diplomatic job for another man, Matthew Doyle. Doyle later was suspended from the Labour Party over friendship with Sean Morton, who Doyle campaigned for after Morton was charged with possessing and distributing indecent images of children in December 2016.
