@binomen96 @X claux.app - monitoring tool for Claude Code. The menu bar app sits in the macOS menu bar and shows real-time session data: live costs, context health, token breakdown, burn-rate projections, recent session history and more. As well as a CLI dashboard

I've been thinking about running local AI models instead of paying for API subscriptions. anyone actually doing this? is the quality gap real or overhyped?

@binomen96 depends on your usage. For coding, probably not as the price of energy makes api costs cheaper than running local. For small agentic tasks, its nice because you don't have to worry about rate limits and can hammer the hell outta them.

@yca_software More about coding speed and quality. A good workflow with tight rules, good context is relatively easy, which makes me spend tokens like crazy with the speed features are built

@binomen96 Depends on what you want to do. For smaller changes where you have a codebase with good examples local models work well imo. If you want it to one shot a huge project not ideal. If you have cursor, just use cursor auto for most bad you won't have to spend a fortune on tokens
