Yin and yang, heaven and earth, life and death are all defined by their relationship to each other. They are two parts to a singular truth and one cannot continue to exist without the other. For CalebMC it's clear that death is often just a transition to them. They are portrayed as eternal and cosmic beings. And with death, memory is the only record of their time together. Being remembered means that they will always go back to each other no matter how many deaths they will experience. But forgetting is different, it transforms their cosmic romance into a solitary delusion. To the one who remembers, their entire existence that was built around the other suddenly looks like a lie. Heaven needs earth to see its own height, death needs life to understand its own silence, shadow (yin) needs light (yang) to exist. Without MC, Caleb loses his sense of self and his purpose.
