@RMac18 You kidding right? I see both sides venting their frustrations on this platform and that makes it a great place for discourse

Musk has a history of tweaking X to his liking. He's demoted posts from Substack, changed rules to ban links to other social platforms, cratered the engagement of news outlets and had his people remove journalists.

worth watching the clip: x.com/MTSlive/status…
MTS@MTSlive

.@shaunmmaguire says Elon Musk’s X acquisition was in service of civilizational-scale missions. "I truly believe, like in my soul, that he is trying to help humanity." "He has these goals. Like back up the biosphere by making us a multi-planetary species or ushering in electric vehicles." "These are incredibly important missions." "Politics became probably the biggest threat as a bottleneck to achieving these very positive missions." "I personally view the X acquisition as an attempt to help remove these bottlenecks. Through that lens, I think it's been incredibly successful."

This was retweeted by Musk and in some ways says the quiet part out loud. Musk has long tried to give his Twitter deal purpose by saying it was for "free speech." But here we have an investor in that deal saying it was a move to remove regulatory and political "bottlenecks."

@shaunmmaguire @pitdesi by the time you posted your first post, the NYT had gone with four push alerts in the app, sent a morning newsletter to subscribers and led with the incident on the homepage for more than 12 hours

@pitdesi When I posted this: 1) I had asked Gemini when the NYT goes to the printing press on Sundays and it said 10pm ET 2) the NYT had very little coverage on its website, now they have a lot

And what exactly is the implication here? That a major outlet didn’t cover an attempted shooting at an event featuring the most powerful person in the world, his cabinet and many peer reporters because ??? brother check the world wide web

would love any analyst on this tesla earnings call to ask musk what he means when there will be so much abundance in the future that money won't matter and no one will have to work

gotta wonder if elon is testing out his "amazing abundance" theory where money doesn't matter by spending $60B on a startup

Also fun to remember that before Thiel bankrolled Hulk Hogan's case against Gawker, he tried to convey himself as a friend of journalism by donating money to the Committee to Protect Journalists
Nicholas Dawes@NicDawes

When Peter Thiel helped kill Gawker, he said he wasn't going after journalism in general. Now, he's backing a company that aims to do just that. I wrote about his new plan to route around the 1st amendment with the help of ex-spies and an AI "tribunal" codastory.com/polarization/c…
