🇫🇷 This is easily one of the best stories from last night’s Champions League semifinals. Dayot Upamecano and Ousmane Dembélé both hail from the city of Évreux. They grew up studying together and attending the same football academy; they are childhood friends who now share the pitch as teammates for the French national team.
In the buildup to this week's semifinals, the two joined forces to give back to their roots. They gifted jerseys from both of their clubs to the kids in their old neighborhood and even provided tickets for them to witness today’s match in person.
The game itself delivered spectacular duels between the two friends. In one particular one-on-one, Upamecano read Ousmane’s movement perfectly, stepping in to prevent a goal. There is something truly special about competing at the highest level against a friend you know by heart.
