Mr. Osifo Osayamen Stanley is contesting in the presidential primaries against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a sitting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Whether he wins or not, the mere courage and confidence to step into the ring and test his popularity within his party against an incumbent president speaks volumes. Ironically, he appears to have far more confidence and courage than the NDC’s sole presidential candidate, who is afraid to contest against anyone in a genuine primary election. Instead, he always settles for mushroom parties where he can emerge unchallenged, apparently just to massage his ego and maintain the illusion of political relevance.

There are four ways you can identify when a man is operating from a scarcity mindset. And once you understand them, they become very easy to spot. Number one: desperation for attention. When a man starts sending messages begging a woman to reply, begging her to give him attention, to treat him better, or to simply acknowledge his existence as a human being, that is a clear signal. It shows he has already placed himself in a position where he believes attention is limited, and therefore must be begged for. That is scarcity thinking. Number two: overcompensation through gifts. When a man starts using gifts—flowers, chocolate, sudden expensive treatment—as a way to buy affection, he is no longer operating from confidence. He is trying to exchange resources for emotional validation. Instead of being valued for who he is, he tries to purchase how he is treated. That is not generosity. That is compensation. Number three: excessive reassurance. This is when a man constantly feels the need to prove himself. He keeps assuring the woman that he loves her, that he is loyal, that he is not “like other men,” that he does not sleep around, that he is a good guy. But when reassurance becomes excessive, it stops being communication and starts becoming insecurity. A man with abundance does not spend all his time defending his identity. He lives it. Number four: mate guarding. Mate guarding is when a man begins to actively police access to his partner—warning other men to stay away, restricting who she can talk to, or controlling who she can give attention to. The assumption behind it is simple: “If I don’t actively protect this, I might lose it.” But in a healthy dynamic, attraction and respect are supposed to maintain boundaries naturally. When a man feels the need to enforce constant external control, it suggests he does not trust the strength of the connection itself. These four patterns all point to the same root issue: scarcity mindset. When a man believes attention, loyalty, or affection is rare and must be secured through force, fear, or overinvestment, he begins to act from anxiety rather than strength. And once you understand that, you start to see the difference between confidence and desperation very clearly.
