Mormonism vs Christianity #1 : Who is Jesus Mormons: Jesus is a created being Latter-day Saints teach that Jesus is the firstborn spirit child of Heavenly Father (and a Heavenly Mother). All human spirits, including Jesus and Lucifer (Satan), are literal spirit brothers and sisters born in a premortal existence. Christians: Jesus is eternally God Historic Christianity teaches that Jesus is eternally God — uncreated, without beginning or end. He is the second Person of the Trinity: fully God and fully man. John 1:1-3: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

@fortunatus62560 @TravelbytheCoin @carleolson And smoking helps obesity. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Red wine helps break down food in your gut. 🫃 Etc, etc, etc. 🤦‍♂️ I think society would be better without the addicting nature of coffee, alcohol and tobacco.

@ReidBates6 @TravelbytheCoin @carleolson Coffee has many health benefits if you check online, but that is not the point. The point is that Jesus would not have performed a miracle at Cana to produce a substance that God would later ban. The same for StPaul’s recommendation. Joseph Smith lied, plain and simple.

Spent a few moments on the official LDS site. As expected, much vague pablum. This, however, caught my eye: "The Holy Trinity is the term many Christian religions use to describe God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Latter-day Saints believe very strongly in all three, but we don’t believe they’re all the same person." Newsflash: No Christian believes they are the same person. This is either ignorance or worse.

So many connections between the LDS temple ceremonies and early Christian practices! How did this all get forgotten over the years? Chat GPT was totally stoked about these connections 🤩 1/2

“If it were true that Mormonism is the ‘restored’ church, we would certainly expect to find evidence in the first century for such unique doctrines as the plurality of gods, men becoming gods, and God the Father having once been a man. But we do not find even a hint of any of these in ancient church history.” - Ron Rhodes

“I and the Father are one.” Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”” John 10:30-33 Jesus very clearly claimed to be “one essence” (not merely purpose) with God. Everyone at the time understood it.

Mormons: We are Christians. Christians: You don’t believe in the Trinity. Mormons: We do. Christians: Prove it. Mormons: The word Trinity isn’t in the Bible! Christians: So you don’t believe in it, thus you’re not a Christian. Repeat the conversation like a changing consumer habit at a traffic stop asking “what they did wrong.”

@BasedMikeLee @johnddavidson Yes, I agree. This week has devolved into the worst versions of Christians on both sides. What pharisaical gatekeeping it has become. Judgement day will come and we’ll know how just and merciful God is to all us Christians. Till then…

Okay Jesus Christ is God of the Old Testament He is the Lord, Savior, and Redeemer of the New Testament He lived a sinless life He performed countless miracles—raising the dead, turning water into wine, and feeding thousands with a few loaves and fishes He suffered in Gethsemane and later died on the cross He suffered and bled from every pore to pay the price of our sins He was resurrected three days later I know—pure heresy, right?

Given the vast theological differences between Mormonism and every Christian denomination, the burden here should be on the Mormons to argue why any reasonable person should categorize Mormonism as simply another Christian denomination.

I just got off the phone with President Trump We discussed the Pentagon’s “Christian list” I won’t speak for him, but I’m thrilled about where this is heading We’re most fortunate that President Trump (1) loves Latter-day Saints, and (2) is our commander in chief Stay tuned

Christians do not believe they are one person as the poster stated. Thus, incorrect. “The Trinity is One. We do not confess three Gods, but one God in three persons, the "consubstantial Trinity". The divine persons do not share the one divinity among themselves but each of them is God whole and entire…” (CCC 253)

@fortunatus62560 @TravelbytheCoin @carleolson The W.o.W. was revealed at a time before the medical benefits of it were fully understood. It’s been a big blessing and we enjoy remarkable health relative to our peers. Imagine the societal benefits if there was far less alcohol, tobacco and coffee consumed in the world.

@TravelbytheCoin @carleolson Why do Mormons follow the phony ‘revelation’ of the word of wisdom by fulfilling the Last supper once a month with mere water when Jesus turned water into wine at Cana and St Paul recommended wine to Timothy in 1 Tim 5:23?

How can someone as (seemingly) smart as yourself believe a religion as wacky as the Mormon Church practices? I’m genuinely curious, because it just baffles me, and honestly it scares me that humans are so prone to, what looks to me like, brainwashing. I would guess that you were raised Mormon and never truly questioned it, and I could be wrong. I would love to hear your thoughts. And fyi, I’m Christian, and I am constantly learning and digging deeper to make sure I’m on the right track. I stick with Christianity because I can find no more perfect law for this world.

Last night, I got a call from President Trump. During the call, I asked about how the Pentagon had reclassified my faith. He said he would look into it. This morning, he told me it had been fixed. Thank you, President Trump. We can disagree on whether "Mormons are Christian." That's not what disturbed me about this. I don't want the GOVERNMENT classifying religions. That creates a dangerous tool that shouldn't be in the hands of ANY government. I don't believe that was Hegseth's goal. But what happens if the power shifts and the "Jesus was nonbinary" camp takes over? Will they recategorize conservative Christians? The Biden administration already tried to link Catholicism to domestic terror. If that possibility troubles you, then you understand my problem with this whole thing. I don't want the government to declare me a Christian. I want them to stay out of it.

@glennbeck It is true, you faith group should not have been kept off the list. But you are not Christians, simply because you equate Christ with the Father of Lies, Satan. They did not start out as brothers or anything like that. Jesus is part of the eternal Godhead. Satan is not.

@AmBeR081114 @itsforourday @gaptoothdummy I’m sure there maybe members who struggle with the Book of Mormon just like there are other Christians who struggle with Noah and the ark, floating axes, talking donkeys, etc. I’ve read the BOM >40 times and there is no better explanation for its existence than being divine.

Mormons, you have Dirty Dr. Pepper at McDonald's now. You're having a moment. Enjoy it. Don't try to act like everyone hates you. The persecution complex is not fooling many of us. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this: >You either get to believe that God appeared to a 14-year old boy in the 1800s and told him that all of the religions were false and he should start his own. >Or you can believe the true Gospel and align with thousands of years of Christian tradition. Which is supported by archaeological evidence and testimony and the fruits of Christian orthodoxy. "Oh but we believe in Jesus Christ and that he died for us!" Sure, but you also believe that Satan was Jesus' brother. And that they're both the sons of God and that God is also a son of God and god has a wife and this goes on and on for all eternity. And that the Holy Ghost, God and Jesus Christ are *three distinct beings* united in purpose. So, POLYTHEISM. And a mountain of other absurdity.

LDS folk, I love you, but you have to understand that the Nicene Coucil(s) are THE defining councils of Christianity. There are several others, but they stem from the important question: What is the nature of God? You HAVE to understand the history of Nicaea and where it fits into the theology of Christianity. As such, I have a list of resources to help you understand as much as you wish to be understood: 1. "Nicaea and its Legacy" Great book that simply explains the why and what of Nicea and what the impact was 2. "The Road to Nicea" Podcast which provides a rough snapshot of how Christianity went from hiding out near the tomb of St. Peter, to becoming the religion of the empire and the impact of Nicea 3. "From Nicaea to Chalcedon" Which explores what happened after the Nicean Council and what led up to the Chalcedonian council. Finally, "The Cambridge Companion to the Council of Nicaea" which is what I should have listed first. Frankly the best first stop for learning about the council. I love y'all and I hope you enjoy learning about this rather interesting period of Christian History.
Dem Saints@LDS_Dems

It is weird to me that modern Christianity has drawn the line around the Trinity, a concept Jesus never taught.... ....and not around the need for baptism, something Jesus was VERY specific about.

@JustinPetersMin @BasedMikeLee I will make it easy. Mormons believe in Jesus. @BasedMikeLee is correct in that. But so do Muslims. So do Buddhists. The problem is that they do not believe in the right Jesus. They do not believe in the Jesus of the Bible: the Jesus Who is God the Son, co-eternal, uncreated, Who took upon Himself a human nature in the incarnation and Who has been ever since, is now, and will forever be the one and only God-Man.
Mike Lee@BasedMikeLee

Read the Book of Mormon. Cover to cover. Pray about it, asking sincerely to know whether it’s true (the final chapter provides specific guidance on this point). Then tell me whether Latter-day Saints believe in Jesus Christ. Will you accept that challenge?
