I despise both sides. Politically, I start with the assumption that they ran for office because they can’t hack it in the private sector, and they can’t hack it in the private sector because they are incompetent. Occasionally, I am surprised when someone runs for office because they genuinely care and feel a sense of civic duty, but not often. I also assume that, regardless of the issue, it will never turn out in a way that benefits myself or my family.

In Downtown Los Angeles people repel from rooftops to graffiti the sides of buildings The problem is so out of control, the city of LA is spending over $12 million dollars a year cleaning graffiti Tens of thousands of new locations show up EVERY MONTH with new graffiti that the city must go clean If you’ve been to downtown LA you know this makes zero difference. The entire city is covered in graffiti, it looks like a 3rd world slum You know what stops being from doing graffiti…..? Jail. You have to throw people in jail

I read the Intro to the Book of Mormon. Here's my reflections: Right off the bat, there's a lot of things that I don't understand about LDS and Mormonism — and reading the intro certainly has illustrated that for me. The testimony of the 11 witnesses is interesting. I am not sure what to make of it yet. It seems a bit overkill. Like, there's sincere doubt that this text will be taken seriously. At the end of the Testimony of the Three Witnesses sounds very familiar: "And the honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, which is one God. Amen." Ultimately, one thing that really stood out to me was this: "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true." This put me at ease, as it is an invitation to review and question it. I'm going to continue reading at some point tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to those of you who listened in and especially those of you who are members of the LDS faith. I am sure I'll have lots of questions.

@AuthorMJClifton Creepy! My son’s wedding day was one of the best days of my life. He chose an awesome woman to marry and she chose him right back. They are happy and supportive of each other and that is all I wanted for him.

I hate my timeline right now. Mormons are Christian. Christianity means discipleship of Jesus Christ. If your definition excludes people who worship Christ, covenant with Christ, preach Christ, and try to follow Christ, then your definition is broken. At that point, you’re not defending Christianity. You’re guarding a social club label. The question isn’t whether LDS are Christian. The question is why some people are so desperate to make Christ smaller than their own gatekeeping. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I used to work at the Deseret Book right across from Temple Square when I moved to Utah. I met a woman every day going into work who yelled at me telling me I was going to hell because I was Mormon. She wore all white and paraded around temple square every for years. Many of you probably met her. I had a conversation with the Temple Square mission president at the time who told me that she was probably the single best missionary in the entire world. The number of people who would hear her hatred, get curious, and then wander into Temple square and talk to missionaries was not small. She generated TONs of referrals. That seems relevant this weekend.

There was a time when pedophiles and grifters were cast out and sometimes stoned to death, Joeseph Smith committed some serious crimes. Including polygamy and pedophilia so 🫤 the Mormons “gave up” polygamy to become a state. Only a some of the men were allowed polygamy, pay for play whatever you want to call it. Being rejected by the Christians of the United States is not new. From Missouri to Illinois, government officials not only failed to protect our ancestors from persecution — they often joined in it. Saints were stripped of their rights, shot at, and expelled. Children were executed. Women were assaulted. Then, even after fleeing the country, that same government sent an army to follow their bloody footprints into the Rocky Mountains. Elected officials then continued to harass, malign, and threaten to confiscate the Church’s private property for decades. Now it is 2026, and the pattern has not entirely disappeared. The same government seeks to define what we believe. Voices on social media — most of them professing Christians — declare openly that our faith is obviously fraudulent or started by demons. Given that history, no one should be surprised when we respond with a touch of passion.

Last week, a proposed list of simplified faith codes was released to the media. The Pentagon list included redundant and unnecessary labeling, and the mistake has been fixed. The goal of this effort is to simplify a previously out-of-control “belief” coding system that had ballooned to over 200 codes. In order to clarify the work of chaplains, and simplify the work of commanders, the Pentagon has consolidated and simplified the list to roughly thirty codes — using the previously used labels for faiths. The Pentagon’s job is not to adjudicate theological debates, but instead to ensure sincerely-held faith is respected and encouraged in our ranks. Below is the updated Religious Affiliation Codes (RAC) list:
