If I can see it coming. If Trump loses, the election commentariat is going to blame Trump's mistakes in the last week. You know who won't get credit they deserve? Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, and tens of millions of women who will be responsible for defeating Trump.

@VeryBadLlama One of my grandmothers didn't have paid employment. I don't remember her ever talking fondly about being home with the kids (the kids yes, her time, no). She did talk about the costumes and art she made. Her community gallery. She talked about the jobs she had before marriage.

@VeryBadLlama Only one of my great-grandmothers was always a 'stay-at-home' person. But that's because home was work. They were farmers. Her whole day was spent working, so they could survive.

@NevermoreElyse @RachelMoiselle Arabic is a semitic language as is Aramaic and Hebrew. They're related. However, Arabic in whatever form wasn't spoken by large populations in that area until post Muslim conquest.

@RachelMoiselle What a dumbass. Hebrew is the only Canaanite language that is spoken in modern times. Aramaic, spoken in ancient Israel was also Canaanite. You know what isn’t linguistically related to Canaanite languages? Arabic.

Hebrew wasn’t ‘invented’ by Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, it is an ancient language that was revived. Do you not know what language revival is? How on earth did you become a university professor?

@RachelMoiselle Schama clueless about this? The same guy who wrote pages and pages on the Cairo Geniza and multiple volumes on Jewish history. I think Schama knows a thing or two about the revival of Hebrew and how it never went out of use in some contexts.

@devdav01 @pdnell I don't judge them on standards I don't hold. But I think there are reasonable grounds for various heter if they sought one on some Shabbat issues (security, work for national leader). I do judge them for being trash human beings.

This isn’t mean: they are horrible horrible people who stole millions from the American people, and they are an embarrassment to our people. If you block me for that it’s no loss.

@devdav01 @pdnell And just to clarify, I converted Reform - and by chance I had an all female Beit Din. Israeli rabbinate would reject me out-of-hand, but that's ok, I didn't do it for them.

@ingridk @devdav01 This. I’m not going to pretend they aren’t Jews, although their values are reprehensible. They’re just bad people and Jews shouldn’t celebrate them.
